Twitter now displays where accounts are from and it has confirmed that too many of the political accounts are out of country bots.

Why are folks still there? To argue with bots? A waste of precious time while enriching the richest man on Earth.

So the final actual RINs per MMbtu is 11.69345505979

Which is why the EPA says it's "approximately 0.9004"

So the final LHV/HHV ratio is 909.30/1010.0 =0.900396039604

GPA 2145 lists the HHV of methane (gross heating value) at 60°F in an ideal reaction as 1010.0 BTU/ft^3

GPA 2145 lists the LHV of methane (net heating value) at 60°F in an ideal reaction as 909.40 BTU/ft^3

The 0.9004 RINs per MMBtu is itself an approximation. It is based on the ratio of LHV/HHV of methane according to ASTM D3588 which references the GPA 2145 thermochemical table

Of course peak oil never went away. Oil is a finite resources so oil production will eventually hit a maximum production rate. But after taking a decade long hiatus with the rise of fracking, it’s possible we’re back to where we need to worry about peak oil.

After many years of nobody talking about peak oil we’ve now seen Bloomberg talking about peak oil, The Financial Times asking if China has hit peak oil, and the CEO of Oxy saying the US is going to hit peak oil in the next five years.

Can someone please pass a law that's makes it illegal for airlines to pitch credit cards over their airplane PA system. They should only be allowed to give safety announcements and tell us which carousel our luggage is at.

LCFS Compliance Curves

LCFS Compliance Curves

Also the New Mexico program has the strongest first 5 year compliance curve of any program so far. Should get off to a good start!

They use an ILUC table that makes it basically impossible to use palm oil derived renewable diesel (good!)

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

And speaking of EERs they're using the same EERs as California. (Except New Mexico EERs are Table 7 instead of Table 5)

Interesting that they will allow any vehicle manufacturer or fleet owner to apply for their own custom EER. I think this is a cool idea - if you create or use vehicles that are more efficient than the industry average then you can get rewarded with more credits. (Page 23)

Everyone's moved to smaller high compression engines to get higher MPG but still achieving the high peak horsepower numbers. Like the Audi A4 has a 2.0 liter inline turbocharged four cylinder making 260 hp, while getting 32 mpg highway. But it has an 11:1 compression ratio so it takes premium.

Not a surprise that the longer we delay solving climate change the higher the social cost of carbon gets. Higher costs every year for property damage, human health, food production...

More cars are calling for premium gas but do you have to use it? There’s a good chance your new car calls for premium gas but do you have to use it?

Apparently "Car manufacturers required or recommended premium fuel for 47% of new vehicle model configurations in 2023, up from 7% in 1985." That's crazy. fox2now.com/news/nationa...

The ev charging bankruptcies / consolidation is going to be interesting especially with the 30C tax credit giving companies 30% up to $100k per post to expand (if that stays in place). Maybe better to build new than buy old unreliable hardware out of bankruptcy. But then location, location, location

We can easily solve this problem without having to hire more police. Just install red light cameras - they pay for themselves. And then send tow trucks around and impound any car with more than 2 unpaid tickets and immediately impound any car without plates.

I gotta say that being able to play YouTube links in-app is amazing and it doesn't make me want to leave Bluesky, it makes me want to use it more. I cannot believe what we've been forced to tolerate by tech behemoths for so long in their desperation to prevent access to the rest of the internet.
