(Don’t get) COVID for the holidays As we’re facing the next COVID surge (brought on by holiday travel), I thought I might try a different kind of COVID post. You can skip to here for some easy to do tips and tricks you might have mi…

I am asking everyone who reads or sees this to please do just *one more thing* to avoid spreading COVID this holiday season. The post has a list of easy-ish options, like wear a mask on the subway or to the pharmacy if nowhere else.

Don't remove your mask indoors. Aerosols < 5 micrometers can persist in the air for hours.

Don't remove your mask indoors. Aerosols < 5 micrometers can persist in the air for hours.

PSA: 🚨 DO NOT TAKE YOUR MASK OFF INDOORS, even if there is no one else around.🚨

The virus persists in the air for HOURS because #CovidIsAirborne

Only take your mask off outdoors, and preferably use an N95 mask.

A plea to maskless health-care workers from vulnerable patients - Healthy Debate Health-care workers have a responsibility to protect their vulnerable patients. Our lives are in your hands.

"If you’re a health-care worker who sees a patient in a mask, put one on for them. Don’t make them ask. Don’t psychologize them. Don’t betray the trust they’ve shown you. They’ve put their lives in your hands. Don’t take that for granted, it’s not an easy thing for many of us to do"

I could have written this - except I think I may have had COVID in late Feb 2020. I also restrict indoor space visits to essentials (eg doctor, med pick ups) and we still get trunk pick ups/deliveries for groceries etc. Nice to meet you both!

Done. With pleasure.

Nice to meet you! And I agree, masks rule. 😷 Though air filters, distancing, and all the other tools are pretty nifty too.

I guess stopping pandemics before they get going is too boring for epidemiologists.

I’m so sorry. I skipped my brother’s wedding for the same reason. The sting is real.

That is so frustrating. I’m sorry that happened. It is really mind boggling how advocating for health and prevention has made us a fringe group.

I do. I think for some, it’s denial and shame. Deep down, they know they’re prioritizing their comfort over others, but being uncomfortable is too much to bear. They hide behind self-care/mental wellbeing excuses & point to their vax and handwashing efforts… on their way to their next cruise.

Bsky post by Danielle Beckman:

Reminding you that there is no mRNA vaccine available yet for #H5N1. The H5N1 vaccine uses an inactivated platform, still being developed in eggs. What that means? For the U.S. alone, it will take hens laying 900,000 eggs every single day for nine months. That's if the hens don't get...bird flu.

With 52% death rate in humans, recent research with ferrets proving airborne transmission, discovery that BC teen who’s hospitalized with mutated H5N1 that makes human to human transmission possible, & LOW VACCINES, it’s wise to N95 mask again 😷
Also, wash your hands, #H5N1 spreads thru fomites too

I would love to tell you about the times vaccines prevented me from getting sick, but every time it happens, I don’t notice. I just keep feeling well.

Neither do you.
