New from @josephinelee.bsky.social: It’s the fastest-growing union campaign in modern history. Workers at 29 Texas Starbucks stores have unionized since June 2022. Nationally, that figure stands at 582, out of nearly 17,000, according to a spokesperson at Starbucks Workers United.

suddenly whole educational institutions are making up "AI" policies because "students use it already". idk man, students use smart phones, social media, various software, video games, and a billion other things that i wasn't forced to acknowledge, accommodate, or integrate in my teaching top down.

It’s obvious on reflection but bears occasional repeating that there’s no reason to think the ideological spectrum of professionally validated academic work should align with the contemporary political spectrum. Sometimes it’s left of it and sometimes right….
Also, as I've said before, the faculty at large community colleges could totally do the jobs that faculty at Yale do, and a lot of faculty at ivies could not do our jobs for a single semester.
