German election live: Conservatives projected to win and far-right AfD in second Exit polls show CDU/CSU as largest party with about 29%, with Alternative für Deutschland on about 20%

"The far-right Alternative für Deutschland is expected to come second, with the record-high 20% of the vote, almost doubling its share in 2021 (10.4%)"– an e.g. of why I think we should not ignore/dismiss "fringe" far-right parties (even though contexts differ) www.theguardian.com/world/live/2...

Now would be a great time for the left in Canada to have a serious, coherent agenda that seeks a structural transformation of material life in service of workers, rather than, you know, keyboard warrior emoji shit and first-year undergrad epithets.

Folks, I see a lot of you recently feeling free to use some variation of the "R" word for mentally disabled, including appending the last four letters as suffix to describe people you don't like. I'm not down with that, so if you do it in my comments, I'm gonna hide that shit at least. Be better.

Dear the Media,

When something bad happens in an area under the executive branch's purview, and the White House goes "uh... a Black or gay person must've done it," you do not need to accept that. You're allowed to follow up in pursuit of the factual reason, not the bigoted excuse.

Love,
The public

I really want to highlight this bc the assumption that only undergrads and maaaybe grad students might be trans is something that 1) leads to policies with large gaps for faculty/staff and 2) reinforces the lack of career advancement opportunities for a group already pushed out of academia

You don’t have to post about it online! You just need to keep doing it.

Upper and lower embroidered borders show a frieze of dinosaurs, purple, yellow, green, and black (there are two yellow dinosaurs, their tails intertwined in a kind of lovers' knot). In between we see a Victorian lady and gentleman standing on a pier, looking at a huge steam ship in the sea. The caption is Ludvig Nobel Conceived the Oil Tanker too.

Today I learned about the 🇨🇦 artist Sandra Sawatzky and the epic-scaled embroidered tapestry she has created, emulating the Bayeux tapestry, to chronicle the history of fossil fuel extraction. #needlework, #SubversiveStitch www.theblackgoldtapestry.com

David Lynch spent the last portion of his life in isolation. He said it was due to being high-risk and unable to risk getting COVID.

He’s not the only person with disability or illness who’s been left behind.

Everywhere you go without an n95 is a place you’ve decided disabled people don’t belong.

As long as my wrist holds, I'm going to try a 75k bike on Sunday. My partner has a 3h run, and I need something to do during that time since I'm too injured to run right now.

I say this currently 37 min into a 45 minute ride where I'm bored as hell. (Last Saturday was 50k for a similar reason).

Academics: are you sharing a cfp or advert for your courses using an image?
You absolutely MUST add alt text or you are explicitly saying you’re not interested in letting people with visual disabilities participate
