Come on man, don't call it PESI. That acronym has existed for pribe electrospray for almost 20 years. No one considered "pyESI" in keeping with every pyrolysis paper ever written?

Interesting, someone put my writing through AI slop for the first time. They scraped the abstract from my Pittcon symposium and added some citations that are sure to be irrelevant. I guess the tell is that the authorship says "reviewed by".
Should I link it? Eh why not www.azom.com/article.aspx...
What if I'm just three grad students in a giant overcoat? Wait, that's not being fair to myself. Three postdocs
What's the most toxic thing you did today? I sanded down some PTFE tubing, but at least I wore an N95
I succesfully squeezed a big print onto a dwindling PLA roll, but if I can cut it that close, I might as well eke out a small print after that
My non-proximate desorption photoionization! Soon to be presented in its newest flavor at ASMS, IMSC, and BMSS!
It's either that or write a review to pump their own work in the field!
(I'm writing a review article right now)

This must be specialized, because the vast, vast majority of helium used in this country is for kids balloons
Well I compare to Prosolia and DESI. Waters bought a famous but actually very finicky technology and made major improvements. Bruker bought a famous technology that was mature (but for little tweaks and consumables) 15 years ago
It seems like more and more old IonSense people are leaving Bruker. I wonder what this means for the future of DART. I mean obviously Bruker is ready to stop supporting DART on other MS platforms, but I wonder where this is going
I had to look it up and they do sell 99.995% isobutane, I just can't see the price
I haven't bought from Matheson since this work 10 years ago, but I wonder if they even sell higher purity. Or if it's just super expensive like neopentane, another clean CI alternative. Either way you'd still have the issue of pressure variation between instruments
Allow me to recommend my 2016 JASMS paper about isobutane CI
Interesting. It was hard enough to find journal literature complaining about isobutane fouling the system when I wrote my JASMS paper. Looks like i had 99.95% which would have been as pure as I could get
I've been asking people with GC-Orbitrap systems for years if they do chemical ionization (because what's the point of an Orbitrap for EI) but not until today has someone said yes
Did you ever have a reviewer ask why you didn't try someone else's method, which you hadn't heard of, but then that method's results as-published actually look pretty poor? And you know there's a better than even chance that the reviewer was an author of that method
We ordered 6 helium cylinders today to try to beat the run
Every post I make on LinkedIn gets about 25x engagement as here though. I don't know why, I find it unreadable between the non-chronological feed and ads
Rabi Musah, now at LSU, has done work with earwax but it's strictly small molecule MS
Now that I've built my controller I'm shopping for a protective case with custom foam, and holy cow is this market driven by gun collectors. You thought Pelican cases were for instruments? Nah, their major market is for handguns. Like how compressed gas suppliers sell way more to hospitals than labs
Anyway bought helium since the war started? Has the price jumped already?
New theme song for repurposed circuit boards:
You down with OPPCB? yeah you know me
There's a vendor booth at Pittcon for Parafilm, and I can't believe these guys have to advertise. It's like seeing a booth for Kleenex
Pittcon has a mariachi band playing in the foyer, which is cool in the abstract but means every time the door opens in a session you can hear a trumpet tooting
I see Pittcon favors the double-clip, nunchuk style of lanyard
It's nice to fly out of DC in March when the fash have no specific reason to clog the airport
Headed to Pittcon. Never been before, so if you're there say hey
Sure me too
