The trip for that one errand may be fulfilling other needs such as social connection, but it illustrates that people need viable alternative means of transport other than single-occupant internal combustion engined cars.

I would supply gasoline only to those motorists who could give a reason for wanting to drive somewhere. That would eliminate much of this driving about from one point to another by persons interested solely in atrophy during mobility.

...widespread opinion attributing rising pedestrian deaths to pedestrians crossing illegally, wearing headphones, or being distracted by mobile phones is misinformed and not supported by evidence.
The increasing rate of pedestrian fatalities in America is due to US motorists' preference for large vehicles, and that Australia’s pedestrian fatalities may now be rising for the same reason....
They had to close some old, undesirable homes but a big issue is customers with insufficient behaviour support funding in their NDIS plans forcing providers to provide unfunded supports. My organisation has made a loss for several years, which might just be turning around, but it is tight. 2/2
I work for a large not-for-provider in another state that has >100 group homes mostly former state govt ones. They were just breaking even b4 Covid but since then many have made a loss. Wages, insurance, other costs have gone up while NDIS prices were frozen or increased below inflation..1/2

US voters knew what he was like before they voted - they'd had 4 years of him already. As @mellotronworker.bsky.social said, 'this is what America voted for. This is what America wants. This is what America is.'
I've just checked, me and millions of others are stuffed. My house in Sydney is 31m above sea level and the one I'm moving to in Melbourne is 5m ASL.
According to a lot of very knowledgeable people on the interweb, EVs catch fire all the time.
Chart showing the the unemployment rate is now the highest it has been since the end of 2021

Drivers: Cyclists should be registered!
Cyclists: Please stop killing us.
Australia's latest fatality data shows a year-on-year increase of 4.8 per cent to 1337 deaths to the end of May this year.....largely attributed to the increase in deaths of cyclists (up 36.7% to 41 deaths) and pedestrians (up 15.7% to 192 deaths). www.drive.com.au/news/cyclist...
I don't detest cyclists; I love cyclists, including Pog.
Back in the day, there was even the Subaru Brumby ute. There is one that parks nearby here and I see it occasionally - it looks tiny these days.
They may be practical, but in an old person's "I remember when" moment, I remember when utes were based on the standard GMH and Ford sedans and even the 'standard' sized ones seem huge to me now. And, yes, the RAM style ones are outrageously huge and should be banished forever.
It’s large utes and SUVs, per se, that I object to regardless of power plant. It’s strikes me that such vehicles are unnecessarily large and, in most cases, my guess is that their functions could be achieved with a smaller vehicle.
Transport NSW must find a way to clean the cycle lane as the separated lanes just fill up with leaves and other debris.
Good news as the semi-temporary-permanent barrier thingy that has been there since the Covid pandemic is constantly being bumped by cars and then it partially blocks the cycle lane. www.transport.nsw.gov.au/projects/cur...
I'm so happy that Americans are getting what they voted for. (Not so happy that it will negatively affect the rest of us here in the real world, but we might be able to go our own way sans the US).
She could already be in an El Salvadoran prison as we speak.
Lady Liberty is an illegal French immigrant; she should be deported.
No, those ‘quiet Australians’ quietly love it.
If I never have to list my pronouns again, it will have been all worth it.
