AND...I am setting up my new lab at UW-Madison (herzfeldlab.neuro.wisc.edu) this summer! If you are interested in linking cell types and neural circuits to computation - please reach out! (4/4)
Congrats, that’s great news! Wish you the best.
I wrote about a scientific paper called “The Unbearable Slowness of Being” which finds that the human brain’s throughput is just 10 bits per second. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2024/12/26/s...

How the brain coordinates the activity of its many muscles to achieve successful control remains an enigma. www.cell.com/issue/S0896-...

We just open-sourced two large wrist electromyography (EMG) datasets - one towards typing without a keyboard and the other for predicting hand poses - with baselines.
We believe these will help advance research into making high bandwidth non-invasive neuromotor interfaces a reality!
BCIs list! Still finding folks on here so please message me if you'd like to be added.
I recently wrote a primer on UMAP for Nature Reviews Primers. If you are looking for an overview of the method, a getting started primer, or best practices it is a good place to start.

🧠🤖 Do you have an ML background and want to learn a bit about #neuroscience? Check out our free online course!
We think neuro and ML both aim to understand intelligence, and so it's good to know a bit of both to inspire new ideas that neither field might find on their own.

large-scale neural recording of 50,000 neurons, showing many diverse activity patterns, and also what the cells look like at various zooms of the maximum projection image of the recording FOV
We wrote a review on analysis methods for large-scale neural recordings www.science.org/stoken/autho... @marius10p.bsky.social #neuroscience 🧪🧠
