Dear Parents of Autistic & Other Neurodivergent Kids,
The school year is ending soon. Your kid(s) may be out of whack. Extra emotions, struggling more with new tasks, exhibiting overall stress etc. Your job is to remember this & be their unwavering support. It's difficult, but they need you now.

Tiny utensils are the best! My kids found 3 tiny forks at my parent's house and brought them home. They have been deemed the "fruit salad" forks
Photo of an old battery stuck deep within a Polly Pocket Playset.
Me: I have so many things I need to do.
Also, Me: I will not stop until this old, exploded battery is removed from the 1995 Polly Pocket I found at an estate sale.
I just squirted lemon juice inside of it. I will let it soak and then go back in with the steak knife. We'll see.
I saw the "Calendar Girls" snippet, and that was more than enough for me. I didn't realize how naive I was until I saw how vile others can be.
Hey! That's our book! Thank you to @andreabrownlit.bsky.social for sharing!
Photo of a young child sitting on a couch with their legs underneath the couch cushion. The cushion is halfway off of the couch.
Raising an unmasked autistic kid sounds daunting, but it truly comes down to letting small things go. Many parents would say, "Why are you sitting like that? Don't mess up the couch!". In reality, the cushion is providing sensory input & comfort to my child - I sat the same way when I was little.
๐ฅน๐ฅน๐ฅน You are the sweetest.
That particular photo is the only one that truly looks like me out of all the ones my photographer took. Staged/professional photos are a big struggle for me.
Aww, yay!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with me and for your support! ๐๐คฉ๐๐ฅฐ
Photo of a little boy (Pierre) about ready to jump into the mouth of a lion.
And by the way, your name is Pierre and you don't care.
I hope you're up on your Maurice Sendak knowledge.
Nope, just an average cyberstalker that plans on abducting you from your home while you're sleeping. As my calling card, I will leave tufts of a lion's mane so everyone thinks you were eaten, instead.
His podcasts are so entertaining. Definitely one of my favorites

Thank you so much for reviewing our books! ๐
Awww, Trinket ๐
Ain't that the truth! Do you know how many pairs of Flare ear plugs I've lost ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
I am *obsessed* with pockets! If I have pockets, I won't carry any kind of purse or bag with me
Thank you so much!! ๐ฅฐ๐๐คฉ
An illustration of 2 board books called "My Dinosaur Shoes" and "The Clean-Up Monster". These books are written by Eleni Tassopoulos Wehner and illustrated by Danamarie Hosler. Under the images of the books, it says "Board Books Don't Always Come with an 'Essential' stamp, but this one does" -School Library Journal, starred review. Under that, there is an illustration of two kids dancing and waving. There is a girl on the left with tan skin and reddish brown hair. The boy on the right is also tan, with curly brown hair and red headphones. At the bottom, there is the Barefoot Books logo, a Dinosaur Shoe and a puppy shoe.
Happy Book Birthday to Roscoe & Ivy! The Clean-Up Monster received a starred review from @slj.com and @barefootbooks.bsky.social had to print more pre-order copies for My Dinosaur Shoes! So excited to share this day with @mightypigeon.bsky.social and @katedepalma.bsky.social
Yay!!! I can't believe this day is finally here! Thank you for being such a rockstar! I love working with you ๐คฉ๐๐
You could be the best parent for your autistic child, and the 'feelings of not being good enough or failing as a parent' still creep in. My kids are all happy, healthy & have friends, but I still get those nagging feelings. It's so real.
WHOA! Ok, now THAT'S OLD! ๐๐๐
Lamps are where it's at! So much more control over the lighting situation.
Our house was built in the 70s, but the people before us loved entertaining, so they remodeled the entire 1st floor about 25 years ago. Definite win for us haha!
Twitter was a godsend for me (before the X days). I found my community and realized it wasn't just my kids who were autistic. The best thing we can do as a neurodivergent community is support each other โค๏ธ
Autistic & ND people, here is a guide for lightbulbs
Studies suggest our retinal response to a single flash of white light is more profound than non autistic people
Photophobia is real
Need for consistency in sensory experience to remain regulated is real!
Iโm warm light only, some prefer white
The previous owners of our house installed dimmer switches on all the lights on the main floor. I never realized how happy those tiny, sliding switches would make me
