In case you need to explain this to anyone here's the short and sweet version: There is currently no ethical use of generative ai because every model is built off of stolen data, pure and simple. Artists, writers and general internet users alike never had a chance to consent to their works being used to train these models. Even now, an inconceivable amount of stolen data is being fed into them with no compensation. If that wasn't enough, there is a considerably negative impact on the environment from these models. Data centers use millions of gallons of water, and negatively impact the air quality of the surrounding area. And if THAT isn't enough, the impact on the electrical grid and computer part prices are nothing to sneeze at, either. Hope this helps!
