Also LOVE the Boston Braves pennant tucked in at top left in this Erin Clark photo of Mat Brown

Growing up, I sometimes browsed at Building 19 with my mom, but I ALWAYS looked for the Building 19 circulars in the @bostonglobe.com every Sunday! This piece from Billy Baker on 90yo artist Mat Brown (and the younger fans celebrating his work) is fantastic! www.bostonglobe.com/2026/04/17/m...
This was a fun one to write today — the Clark Medal couldn’t have gone to a nicer person! current.fas.harvard.edu/stories/ludw...
Big day!
The great @keithob.bsky.social at the Power of Narrative Conference, on the scrapbooks and newspaper bound volumes he leafed through in Larry Bird’s hometown: “Libraries” — and librarians — “are crucial to the work we do as narrative storytellers. Full stop.”
My book won't arrive until June, but I'd be delighted to mail a signed bookplate and bookmark — hot off the presses, designed by my amazing cousin Jordan Diatlo at Leadoff Studio — free to anyone who messages me to say they've preordered
Good news for people who like books and sales! @barnesandnoble.com is running a preorder promo through the end of Thursday, offering 25% off preorders of my book (and others coming soon) with the code PREORDER25 www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-hardes...
“Dad, is ninja a job?”
— Izzy, 6, contemplating his future

The very polite box office attendant, of indeterminate age, said, “did you say 2000? I wasn’t even born then.”
Didn’t expect to get choked up walking around the corner to buy circus tickets at the BU Agganis Arena box office, but that’s how life works. Saw that Meth and Red are coming and immediately wanted to text my friend Rod Kurtz—we saw them in Philly in 2000(!). Rod passed away last year. A gut punch.
“Dad, can dogs eat tacos,” my 6-year-old asked, on the escalator at DSW, “or do they fall apart when they eat them?”
Wasn’t where I expected the second half of that question to go. 😂🌮🐶
Nothing like the pleasant surprise of finding a package on the porch with a book you pre-ordered months ago. Can’t wait to read this, @keithob.bsky.social!
Happy to report that I started a new job earlier this month on the editorial team at Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. First story posted today! About AI's role in solving a thorny theoretical physics problem news.harvard.edu/gazette/stor...
A few photos from the celebration of his life. Incredible to learn that 97yo sculptor Nancy Schön — the artist who made the Make Way for Ducklings sculptures in the Public Garden — is designing a work of public art in tribute to Rescue! @neads-wcsd.bsky.social
Wonderful to see so many people turn out in the snow today to the @bpl.boston.gov to pay tribute to the amazing Rescue (2012-2025) — a very good dog, and my all-time favorite story subject (from 2017) www.boston.com/news/local-n...
This story is so well done — and so sad, infuriating, and affecting, for all who love The Post and for anyone who grew up so enamored with their hometown metro (be it the nation’s hometown paper or any other) that it propelled them into a career
Love this. No notes. (Well, maybe one.) ☀️☃️🏖️
Many readers have asked how they can help support Dan McQuade’s surviving wife and son after his death last week. Here’s a place for they can do so, as can you. everloved.com/life-of/dan-...
My final take on the Celtics trade is that I hope for great things for Anfernee Simons the rest of his career.
And maybe that includes coming back here someday.
A screenshot of an obit for Dan. The headline reads: “Dan McQuade, a Catalyst in Cosby’s Downfall, Dies at 43.” It includes a photo of Dan as well.
Dan McQuade in The New York Times! A richly deserved tribute:

Here's a thread of some Dan McQuade blogs that we really loved 🦅

I only overlapped with Dan for a year on the sports staff at The Daily Pennsylvanian, so I’ve mostly admired him from afar, one of many fans of his hilarious, humane, endlessly creative, and distinctively Philly body of work. Wonderful to see him being recognized, but what a terrible loss.
The Boston accent may be in retreat, but I just heard an amazing announcement about a double-parked “blue Teeyoter” outside the Star Market in Packards Corner

Thanks, Susan!
Got galleys last night! Very exciting! Had some help from a 6yo scissors-wielder who loves to open packages, and who didn’t even exist yet when my agent (Wendy Strothman) first encouraged me to pursue this story as a book! @stmartinspress.bsky.social
Your book release is still months away, but we're already putting the word out there, @ericmoskowitz.bsky.social!

Thank you so much for this! By the way, I was an intern at the Arizona Republic back in 2001, and I have a cousin in Sedona!
I have no memory of this, but the Celtics actually won that one, and 18-year-old rookie Kobe Bryant scored 2 points on 1 of 7 shooting
