Not to mention people are doing other things to accomplish the change these people think protesting accomplishes. They need to go join something and help someone and stop expecting everything to be a show.

When I saw what he said, my first thought was 🙄. My second was “What does Claire say about this?” And you did not disappoint in the slightest. Thank you for leaving comments open because I love your posts and am delighted I can say so on this one in particular! 😂😂😂

• JD VANCE RESPONDS TO POPE LEO:
"When the Pope says that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword - there is more than a THOUSAND year tradition of Just war Theory."

"In the same way that it's important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology."

"And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been - if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."

I’ve given this a great deal of thought, trying to come up with the perfect joke for this moment, and this is what I have so far -

POPE LEO: our religion teaches that this war is bad

VANCE: wow, who died and made YOU head of the Catholic Church??

POPE LEO: well, you should know, you were there

Dr: Writes Rx for more TXA. I use during my period but also need after surgery so I don’t accidentally bleed out.

Pharmacy: …

Me: ?

Ph: (2 days before surgery) There’s a problem.

Insurance: no more TXA for 90 days.

Me: But I need more because I don’t want to bleed to death.

Ins: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Same! I made the cut by less than a month and I hate it here. Almost nothing in common. I tell people I’m Generation Oregon Trail.

I got some protest shirts and buttons from them, but I’m done. They used to be smaller, then Trump happened, people spent way more on their products, and here we are. Was inevitable I suppose./

Disappointed in a “progressive brand” who’s moving their newsletter TO substack. I asked, and they had a canned response about how all the platforms, including Beehiiv, support RWers and nazis in some way, but substack gives them less money out of their pocket. And like…look harder for an alt then?+

True. And also. Is the transformer angel holding hands with ICE agents? Why is there a nurse from the 1950s there?

My (a white lady) hand with a pile of clear-ish cat nail trimmings. Some are thick and many are tiny needle points you can barely see. It was past time for a trim, as the 4 plasters hidden on my body out of frame can attest to. 3 are from yesterday! Just cats being cats, not even trying to get me.

Another Caturday post! The fruits of my cat-nail harvest. All 3 cats trimmed. They were needles! The trick to trimming without incident is one person trims with the cat on their lap and another person uses a pouch of beef stew baby food as a lick treat. They only get it for nail trims. They line up!

I have a few cavities. I don't like to call them cavities though. I like to call them 'places to put stuff'. "Do you know where I can store a pea?" Yes, I have some locations available.

But that's how it comes out of the ground, man. They should call that "corn", and they should call every other version "corn-off-the-cob." It's not like if you cut off my arm you would call my arm "Mitch", but then reattach it and call it "Mitch-all-together." +

If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit. // escalators temporarily stairs. Sorry for the covenience. // You know they call corn-on-the-cob "corn-on-the-cob," right? +

One of mine puts his head in any small box or bag and walks around like that for fun. He can take it off any time, he just likes being weird 😂

He was found with a younger “sibling” at a 6-8 weeks old. Left at a construction site. Very sick with FCV. Rescue kept them together for 7mo, common room with other cats, then we adopted them. They play well together, but he’s way more full of energy. Still learning humans. Better than a year ago!

I almost got a piercing I didn’t want. Somehow he got a fang on other side of my nostril? He’s 2! He should know better, but he is still so baby. Even his younger “sibling” doesn’t do this. I guess some don’t grow out of the love chomp.

Why the chin? Always the chin! I have a 2yo cat who STILL does this. I even give him my finger sometimes to distract and he only mouths it. But my chin? My nose? CHOMP. So cuddly and so sharp!

The two “new” boys were not fans of nail trims and squirmed so much it was dangerous. Discovered pouches of baby food “beef stew” are high-value treats. It only comes out for nail trims and the like. The cats are so busy licking it up like churu that they let me do whatever. Best discovery ever!

“Why foreign girls make better wives and lovers.” 🙄 😒

Agreed. This is why only focusing on millions turning out will miss the point of building a politics and culture of care from the ground up.

"What can Democrats do?"

When the South Korean president attempted to declare martial law, South Korean lawmakers literally fought through tanks and military forces and climbed fences to get into their Parliament building to stop him.

So, you know, that.

May be worth a look. Or pay a friend’s teen to come play with him until he conks out! Husband will be holding it all down while I’m recovering, plus helping me with everything because no bending over for a week (!) Worth it if it helps my fatigue/sleep by making it easier to breathe. 🤞

I’m worried because I have to get a midline for my bleeding disorder. It’s minor nasal surgery but apparently the bleeding risk is major. I have to have coagulant infusions the first week. That tube sticking out of my bicep is a cat trap waiting to happen. He may have to stay away the whole week. 🥺

😂 Fidget was full of mischief because it was a doctor/low spoons day and I was not available for playing. Husband played, but Fidget neeeeeds me. It’s hard being the favorite human sometimes 😅 Not sure how he’ll be when I’m recovering from nasal surgery and can’t pick him up for a whole 10 days!

Used this 3 times tonight. Each time he stopped trying to knock something off the mantle that I have yet to secure with earthquake tack. The 4th time he got to it before I noticed and now it’s broken. Sigh… That will teach me! Some days I swear we need a queen in here to keep all these boys in line!

This is worth a try when Fidget is menacing Tinker 🤔 My childhood dog had a full name my mom used in the same way. She also stopped whatever she mischief was doing and became the bestest girl who would NEVER as soon as she heard it. 😂

I wonder what happens in the present, now that humans are so full of microplastics. Are we currently good fertilizer in this state? On a generation ship, are there going to be chemicals and plastics that have to be removed as well? 🤔

I had a cat who loved all things green. Begged for kale. He also loved chewing on plastic so, not the best palate. Now I have one who loves licking anything that can make him sick: chocolate, avocado, vinegar, coffee… He has a bad smeller from a chronic illness. But still 🤷‍♀️
