It should be approved immediately, and probably should have already been available on compassionate use.
In a trial, metastatic pancreatic cancer patients on the medicine lived twice as long as those on chemotherapy. www.statnews.com/2026/04/13/r...

As we self-destruct, China moves ahead.
Fewer grants were awarded this year. A recent survey of #NIH funded scientists revealed that they had to close their labs, reduce work.
Fewer grants = fewer grad students = slow innovation

My lab at Duke is dedicated to understanding immune evasion during metastasis in colorectal cancer and the development of biomarker-selected immunotherapies. Learn more at our website here!

Had to keep that admit chief complaint nonspecific, we’ll just go w run of the mill neutropenic fever
Yes I often say cardiologists have chest pain, pulmonologists have cough, and we have the internet. I’ve heard some strange stuff but I really dont get the desire/rationale for a rectal espresso.
Our first-line immunotherapy-only trial in Stage IV MSS CRC (BBOpCo) is pushing boundaries, changing lives, and is only the beginning. It is a foot in the door for an IO resistant disease, paving the way for novel biomarkers/combinations.

Yes. Please don’t do a coffee enema. Especially while neutropenic from chemo 😳
Crush CRC is about to start!!! What a turnout on a beautiful day!
A tomahawk missile costs the taxpayers the same amount of money as one five-year major NIH research grant. Remember that every time they tell us one of those missed the target, blew up paintings of enemy aircraft or tanks, or was the fifth and unnecessary hit on the same target.
There is still time to join the 5K next week!
Its March and that means colorectal cancer awareness month #crc
He makes a great case against her nomination thanks for sharing, I will share!
We won’t stand for it.
My incredible patient, a young mother who has overcome a stage IV, MSS CRC diagnosis is featured on Duke's Faces of Research.
She has only been treated on clinical trials, exhibiting a complete response to immunotherapy in the second line setting.

Another life lost too young to colorectal cancer, RIP James Van Der Beek. The time for better prevention, screening, and treatment is now. #CureCRC
“I am shocked and appalled,” one NCI scientist said. “We are moving funds away from so much promising research in order to do a preclinical study based on nonscientific ideas. It’s absurd.”
The CRUSH CRC 5K is just over a month away!

Fucosylation—the attachment of the dietary sugar L‑fucose to glycoproteins & glycolipids—is frequently altered in cancer. Bitaraf et al. outline its role in tumour progression and therapeutic response.

Thanks to @medpagetoday.com for interviewing me about our recent @jco-asco.bsky.social commentary on how medications can influence immunotherapy!

I appreciate the write up from @dukemedschool.bsky.social on our recent @jco-asco.bsky.social commentary regarding how common medications can interact with immunotherapy!

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and inhumane because it often results in physical death" - Dr. MLK Jr.
My mom ran the HIV prevention program for Hillsborough county (before it was shut down by Jeb Bush) which was one of my first volunteering experiences, inspiring me to pursue medicine. I witnessed so much pain, and many people are still suffering - the depth of this cruelty cannot be overstated.

Anti-PD-1 > Anti-PD-L1, due to the existence of PD-L2. It may explain why PD-L1 is such a meh biomarker in many tumors, too.

Here is our publication in @jco-asco.bsky.social! We describe how common medications impact immunotherapy, how this affects practice and patients today, and outline ways to leverage this knowledge toward improved patient as well as our understanding of tumor immunology.

For the first time, the five-year survival rate for all cancers has reached 70 percent, according to a new report, a trend that reflects the effectiveness of early prevention and detection strategies, and advancements in treatment and care, experts say. https://wapo.st/45T6Zm3
