Tbh I think this gets to the crux of so much of the media and general discourse around NDIS. People want to be able to decide 'who counts' as disabled and if they don't 'look' disabled then they must be lying and committing fraud. It's the 'how dare anyone receive something I don't' mindset

Weird how we never hear things like "AUKUS is growing too fast for Australians to afford" or "negative gearing is growing too fast" or anything similar, huh
And this super fun, often quite intense discussion on Presidency (U)Pending. Sharing the YT version so you can see mine and @clarecorbould.bsky.social fail to control our faces in response to unironic use of the phrase “woke hegemony” youtu.be/5pgu8KfT9_E?...

strange these op-eds about women being too angry have all come out the last few days when during the same time there's also been a massive investigation published on an online rape academy with millions of viewers a month and none of them have bothered to even cover it, even as news
Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?
Imagine if a hospital bought software to calculate medicine dosage and got it wrong 1/10 times.

This is a great discussion and worth watching on Youtube if you can, the facial reactions are half the debate!
Why do we even bother with endnotes--this is my personal pet peeve as a historian, I need to read the spicy, sassy, whiny footnotes immediately

Civilisation’s curse is the monumental presumption of separation, of imagining oneself as different from all others, and privileged by that difference. That privilege has so often been expressed in the disdain for, or fear of, “the barbarians” who must be “civilised”.
Always the best example!

No shade to the OP for admitting this, but it shocks me that people my age don’t know this.
You fundamentally cannot understand how the world functions, how power works, if you don’t know history.
"full academic professorship"
My dream job is Emeritus Professor. Cool research without the admin, looks like fun. I've never had tenure, don't have a uni job right now & I'm already 45 so unlikely to get to Prof.
But perhaps I was just approaching the road to professor the wrong way?

a price showing the price of sun and wind over the coming weeks, it's zero
I'm in a chat with a bunch of wind and solar industry insiders and they're telling me they expect the price of sun and wind to climb to at least $0 per babbrel in the coming weeks
