We published a paper about the GC Wealth Project (wealth project.gc.cuny.edu) in Scientific Data. Check this out and see how the project could support your work on wealth, its distribution and transmission 👇
It was a wonderful event at @thegraduatecenter.bsky.social today with an enthusiastic and packed house to hear @gabrielzucman.bsky.social, @mayor.nyc.gov and I talk about the absolute necessity for global societies to tax the ultra rich. It's not radical to think they should pay their fair share too
The retreat was great fun and very insightful. Very honoured to be part of this.
Three days of intensive work sessions for the GC Wealth Project team, by @stone-lis.bsky.social and Roma Tre University, in Allumiere, Italy. A valuable time to strengthen our work on the wealth data warehouse and prepare for the upcoming release of v2.0. Discover 👉 wealthproject.gc.cuny.edu

In a new @ineq-wu.bsky.social @wuvienna.bsky.social , we present a short overview of our paper (in German): research.wu.ac.at/ws/portalfil...
Underestimating one's rank in the wealth distribution leads to a higher savings rate, both among high and low income households (even if we control for the fact that the wealthy are more prone to underestimating their wealth rank and have more opportunities to save)
People misperceive their rank in the wealth distribution: the wealthy underestimate how much they have compared to others, and people at the bottom of the distribution think that they are doing better compared to others than they actually do. Our research shows that misperceptions shape for savings.
📄 New III working paper:
This paper describes a new public-access online database containing internationally comparable estimates of inequality of opportunity for seventy-two countries, covering two-thirds of the world’s population.
