Spending the morning reviewing the literature for Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci infections in neonates.
All I can think of now are silly little puns.
What are the CoNS to these infections?
What are the CoNSequences of treating?
What’s our antibiotic CoNSumption rate

Sometimes I do wonder whether 80% LTFT should be considered the new normal?
Average hours for a full time paediatric trainee = 48 hours/week
At 80% = 38.4 hours/week
UK average full time job = 36.6 hours/week
End of the 2024 DTM&H, presented by Dr Clare Warrell (course director)
Prof David Mabey - talking about the history of the DTM&H course at LSHTM
125 years of LSHTM
Today marks the end of the 2024 DTM&H at @lshtm.bsky.social
I feel extremely privileged to have been part of this cohort, and to have been at LSHTM!
This year also marks the university’s 125th anniversary!
On the right lines…
It’s clonorchis sinensis, which commonly sit within the bile ducts in the liver, and are often seen to have smooth walled bodies and two gut branches.
Another liver fluke would be fasciola hepatica, but this would have spiny tegumens/a spiny outer wall.
Definitely badness 😄
Thank you! It was definitely a tough one, it was super close up until the last question! 😄
Extremely proud of us all!!!
Our DTM&H class of 2024 (Shingle Bells) won the UK Imported Fever Service Christmas Quiz 🥳

uh oh, someone ordered a QuantiFERON—what the heck is a mitogen & who's nil? what do ➕, ➖, & indeterminate results mean?
a pragmatic #meded 🧵 re: the definition, indication(s), & interpretation of the #QuantiFERON (QFT) test👇

Thank you!!! I am so excited and happy, but also super sad because the course officially ends in a week and a bit.
It’s been the best 11 weeks of my life (post Covid/2020)
I’ve passed my Tropical Medicine Diploma exams!!!
Officially DTM&H positive!!!

It’s not too bad, is it? 😊
A change of scenery for studying today
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎄
Looks great, can’t wait to see the finished product!! 🎄
Gooood morning and this will be my first venture into #TeaSky (at least on this platform)
Having some lovely Da Hong Pao today 😄
Ahh this makes a lot of sense, thank you!
Dengue might be my favourite flavivirus…
Hey #IDSky and #MicroSky - I have a question!
In the UK, gentamicin cream is pretty much unheard of, and I have zero experience of using it as a topical cream. However, I’ve seen it being sold in pharmacies in other countries.
When do you tend to use gentamicin cream?
More of a focus towards UK/Aus/NZ Paeds ID, but some overlap with North America :)
Straight back to work after the diploma finishes 🥲🥲 but we’re gonna have a fun last week!!!
I couldn’t eat chocolate digestives for 3 years because weirdly, the taste reminded me of the smell of formaldehyde
And here’s one with the lab coats off! 😂
The best decision I’ve made was applying to study the DTM&H at @lshtm.bsky.social
So proud to be part of the class of 2024!!!
🧵 Our grandmas were onto something when they told us to have some tea when we were sick. Cool paper showing several Omicron-era #SARSCoV2 variants effectively inactivated by green tea, Matcha, & black tea, mediated by EGCG and TFDG: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
