Russia is no longer Russia, it is far weaker than it was back then.
All their stores are gaping empty, their economy is in ruins, and they are running out of ablebodied men.
Russia is no longer Russia, and the same can be said about us.

I got to chat with Aaron Rupar about his publication, his video clipping, and what it takes to document American politics in real time for the millions of people trying to keep up with the nonstop flood of news. One of the nicest guys in media. 👇🏼

There’s just so much shady shit in this story, but this really sticks out. Folks in NLRB’s IT unit were so freaked out by what they saw DOGE doing that they wanted to notify the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Then this happened:
Curtis Yarvin, a close ally of Peter Thiel, recently declared that the system is “irreparable,” that “To capture an elite, you have to demolish its institutions,” & that “Every existing institution of science, outside the scientists & the labs themselves, must be fully cremated…” 1/
this is disgusting.
I know it bothers you as much as it does me that journalism as an institution can’t process that what it’s seeing on a daily basis is evil people doing evil sh*t
Not incompetence, not naivete, not negligence, not mispeaking, not mixups, not miscommunications: straight-up evil people doing evil sh*t
If he is so well known for these things, according to her, then why was he invited to the chat? Not to mention that the whole thing skirts government record keeping and foia laws. Bunch of morons.
Johnson: “They’ve acknowledged that there was an error, and they’re correcting it. And I would’ve asked the same thing of the Biden Administration. I don’t think anyone should’ve lost their job over that because an errant number found its way onto a dialogue between leaders.”
All that said, as things like this are exposed, the fact that it’s being reported so clearly proves that it’s not all a doomed lost cause. Some media will ride the ad revenue, but there’s still ethical journalists out there. The perpetrators are forced to defense and must react to exposing sunlight.
Looking at it as a whole, and considering all that has happened so far, it’s possible they’ve moved too quickly with many foreign and domestic policy pivots. The bad may just pile up faster than can be dealt with in this regime of Cohen style media manipulation.
Someone has weighed the consequences of this signal leak and it is, somehow, the least of their problems. Not much of a choice but the reaction and defense so far seems notably weak. Predictably, GOP party leadership continues with the lockstep double down and will “repeat it until it’s true”.
The denials by Hegseth, the blame and whataboutism by others like Waltz are par for the course. They’re going to try to ride this to pave over several things that include the El Salvador prison and the trade war (specifically the news cycle leading up to April 2). Things can always get worse.
Yes, this is bad. They’ve most likely been using this as an insecure tool to communicate about who knows what before this reporting. What’s worse is that the pattern is to pile up so much bad that every new thing and previously bad thing ends up as normal business.
When I say smoke screen, I mean that they’re leaning into bad news. It’s the mo of these people. Atrocity after atrocity to hide last week’s atrocities. So much incompetence and idiot ambition that there will always be plenty to choose from. There’s plenty to bury. Doesn’t always work.
Southwest of Toretsk, the AFU (12th Special Operations Brigade "Azov") has regained all of Shcherbynivka and Leonidivka which was previously considered Russian occupied, while also entering the most northern part of Nelipivka, capturing a Russian POW.
Of course, how could I forget Mike Waltz. Oh and the speaker of the house. Definitely can’t forget about him. We need a top 20 or 30 list. My top five is lacking.
Homan, Bondi, Noem, Hegseth and Steve "Coulda been duped" Witkoff. Someone else should be emerging from the pack to take the lead soon. Maybe we'll get some more Noem cosplay before the week is done!
This war plans leak almost seems like a smoke screen for the imprisonment and deportations to El Salvador. Quite the the running for being the most professional, incompetent sycophant too. It's a close race at the top of the list between
A federal judge in Maryland has extended a ban preventing the Education Department from sharing data containing personally identifiable information with Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency.
🤣🤣🤣
The cruelty is the point.
This is weakness.
