Definitely call Suozzi and ask why we can never trust him to stand up to Trump.

Please also consider making a donation to his primary challenger (me).

If you'd like a representative who understands the real world implications of the laws they pass (outside of the likely impact on stocks--Tom has that down!), consider donating to my campaign:

Still no public statement, and not even a tweet from Suozzi on Trump's genocide threat.

@tomsuozzi.bsky.social should be ashamed. MTG showed (or at least performed) more moral leadership than him. Absolutely embarrassing representation.

Some of you are also voting in the spring and summer in democratic primaries.

Some dems, like @tomsuozzi.bsky.social, have repeatedly opposed impeachment, censured fellow dems, STILL have said nothing about the threats against Iran, and are generally failing to meet this moment.

We can do better.

NEW: Leqaa Kordia — who’s been in ICE detention for nearly a year, since ICE took her the same week as Mahmoud Khalil — has been hospitalized after having a seizure.

Her whereabouts & health are now unknown.

The Trump admin alleges she supports Hamas because…she sent money to help family in Gaza.

I am in full solidarity with any action Columbia faculty want to do. I will stand out there with you. Will show up to whatever you ask. But you have to do something. Enough enough enough. This is doing so so much damage.

Threats to Student Protest Are Antithetical to the Mission of Higher Education The AAUP defends the right to free speech and peaceful protest on college and university campuses, a time-honored tradition protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Donald T...

Our colleges & universities should encourage, not suppress, open & vigorous dialogue & debate about even the most deeply held beliefs.

Trump’s threats against student protesters are antithetical to the mission of higher education.

We strongly condemn them.

Every faculty who supported police on campus, every one who refused to sign letters of support for their brutalized students: you laid the bricks for politicians to believe they have the authority to crush student voice.

Your racism against Palestine is corroding everyone's freedoms.

This act is unequivocally anti-Muslim, it is an intentional desecration of the holy month; it is another iteration of the ethnosupremacy that has been a defining feature of the U.S.-backed Israeli genocide of Palestinians.

“If academic freedom in teaching & in scholarship can be overridden by the dicta of politicians & administrators, then the right to learn will not survive our present moment.”

I would like to emphasize that the governor of the state of NY, a democrat, intervened in college activities, something she has no business in, for political reasons. This is authoritarianism. Period. And the coverage is not nearly as forceful as that reality requires.
