It seems like the referee of the hearing agreed with me that I shouldn't have been fired in the first place, but the most damning thing for my former employer's appeal was that it was done late. I think even if the HR guy didn't do an absolutely terrible job they still would have lost just from that

It took a week to hear the results of the hearing, but I won! So now I'm back on unemployment, but bitter that I lost a few weeks worth of pay because of their vindictive attempt to stop me from getting paid unemployment

I freak out a little bit but decide that the amount of money involved isn't worth paying for a lawyer so I do my research, gather what evidence I can, then go into the hearing as prepared as I can, and the HR guy representing my former employer COMPLETELY drops the ball.

Then a month later I'm told that my former employer is contesting my unemployment and I'll have to attend an over-the-phone appeals hearing where they'll decide if I can claim unemployment or not.

Naturally I applied for unemployment, which gave my former employers a set amount of time to contest my unemployment. That time passes and they don't contest it, so I start getting paid unemployment.

Which is bullshit because I only ever left my post with my supervisor's permission to grab food, but apparently that wasn't enough for them. There was no room for argument or defending myself, I was fired.

so the day after Christmas I got a call from HR saying that I was suspended from work pending an investigation without a clue given to what the investigation was about. I don't hear from anyone for three days until HR calls me back and says that I'm fired for post abandonment

since the saga seems to be finally over, I want to talk about what's been going on in my life for the last few months
