I recently went to a burlesque show where a pair of dancers (a man and a woman) did a strip tease to "My Heart Will Go On," re-enacting the entire Jack & Rose relationship in the time it took for the song.

When I read the first three lines of the original post, I interpreted it as "There will be more victims of state violence," taking it as a sad statement on the state of the world or a call to action. Then I got to the 4th line and thought "What point did they think they were making?"

A variant cover of the comic Pop Kill #1; the cover shows a young woman with short dark hair lounging naked in a hot tub with three men (two of them sitting on each side of her, and the third partially submerged with just his feet, butt, and a snorkel emerging over the surface of the water). The woman holds a chemical flask in one hand and a folder labeled "TOP SECRET" in the other. Behind this image are four frames, showing (from left to right): A stern-looking white-haired Asian man in a suit; a blond man wearing a tuxedo and holding a gun, striking a James Bond-style pose; a cute little pug; and a second stern-looking, dark-haired Asian man (the twin brother of the one in the first panel). The cover is autographed by cover artist Amanda Conner and writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Dave Johnson.

A salute to an obscure character actor: Mike Brendel (1910 - 1969). I first noticed him in MST3K's presentation of "Castle of Fu Manchu," as the "Oh no, Bob Hope is killing people!" guy. He usually played small parts (mostly in Jess Franco movies), but his face and presence were always memorable.

Yes, she's Donald Pleasence's daughter. She didn't have too many film roles (she did more TV & stage work), but she was always memorable. I think "Symptoms" may have been her only leading role, but she's very impressive, both sympathetic and unnerving as a woman losing her sanity.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! What's YOUR #LastFourWatched?

Remembering Angela Pleasence with a disturbing psychological thriller. Remembering Mario Adorf with a classic giallo. A current blockbuster. And a Hallmark mystery, viewed with my elderly parents.

And again with the "remarried quite quickly" swipe at Kent, when he remarried FOUR YEARS after his wife's death. Considering that Kent's wife was a Navy officer who died on duty on Trump's watch, it comes across as "I got his wife killed, and this is the thanks I get?"

A belated response, since I just picked up this issue (along with #26 and the Annual) from my subscription box at my LCS. LOVED the deep cut of Agatha Timly, since I loved Ploog's Werewolf run and her visual design. I may be the only person to ever get a convention sketch of her (by Chris Hamer)...

As an example of that creepiness, part of the story involves a woman (a sex worker, no less) being so badly injured that the doctors' ONLY option is to physically regress her body to adolescence. I don't know whether that idea was Offutt's or Berry's, but there's plenty of blame to go around.
