I'm not sure the preorder is gonna work out this time round (I did not factor in tax time oops!) but I am curious: would you do a preorder if I did a different color hat, or if I hosted it again in the future?

I'm new to hats so I'm not sure if people prefer a color to straight black, etc etc

If you’re interested in the pen in this video, it’s one that I make and sell, and it’s available here: thingsbydan.myshopify.com
I find this pen so much fun to draw with.
Times are tight at the moment so reposts are very welcome!

Excited to share my dandelion dad hat— my first embroidered merch! I’ll be selling these at Sunny Day Art Market May 10, but also releasing a limited number online (in charcoal) this Friday 4/3 at 11am ET. I’ll also set up a preorder in black! And if you prefer, a patch is coming soon :)

Just before Christmas, I got a puppy.
Her name is Minerva, and we call her *Minnie.

I'm still learning how to understand her.

Me: Do you need to go outside? Do you need to go outside, little baby? Do you need to do a poo?
Do you need to do a widdle piddle?

Minnie: Arf!

*I just call her "little baby" most of the time.

I'm also realizing I can't turn off the baby talk now.
Nobody tells you about that.

I got so lucky with my first puppy.
Her wonderful foster parents had her completely house-trained by the time we adopted her, so taking her outside for potty time has been pretty easy. I've got the puppy poopy routine pretty much down, now.

Me, putting on my coat: Let's see... I got the little poopy bags, puppy treats for bribes, jacket, scarf, phone… I think that's everything… Oh yes! And my passport.

I had been carrying around my passport for a while, but I knew it didn't matter. This is wrong. Nobody is required to carry around their papers.

I became a US citizen when I was seven. Since I was born in a refugee camp, I was stateless.
The US is the only nation where I've ever held citizenship. It's the only passport I've ever had, and it still felt important. Protective.

I would hold it in my pocket like a talisman, like it might ward off ghosts or something. But I realized I was holding onto it basically out of superstition.
ICE will pick up anybody.

I know that.

So I tucked my passport away.

And I largely avoid leaving my house.

I live a few blocks just South of George Floyd Square. I was in the neighborhood for that, too.
And all the neighbors came together to protect each other. We're already organized.
We'll do our best to get through this.

Me, to my dog: I hope I can take you for a walk someday soon. Won't that be nice, little baby?

Abolish ICE. A little journal comic from South Minneapolis.

This was a dream gig I didn't even know I had on my list: gift wrap! Worked with the amazing folks at Parliament in Portland to make some special owl-themed wrap for their favorite people.

For 2026 I am committed to more messy mixed media times even though I have no idea where it’s going… this was a fun mix of tempera paint sticks, colored pencils, brush markers and panpastels.

No problem! I’d rather an excited response (I’m also a big fan!) than none at all :)

random question: who are your favorite limited color/cohesive palette picture book illustrators working today? (doesn't have to be super limited color, but intentionally curated palettes across their books!) I'm trying to figure out approaches for my dummy...

Fairy (inspired by biblically accurate angels :D), Gryphon, Satyr, and Manticore (4/4). All of these started out with traditional media (marker, colored pencil, fountain pen ink and stamp pads), and then mixed with digital media for Riso. Printed beautifully by @magicrockriso.bsky.social !

Was at @gallerynucleus.bsky.social this weekend for RAZ Fest-- so much fun! I debuted a mini gacha print series called Creature Feature! I wanted to show all 16 of the print designs in this thread, so here are Dryad, Unicorn, Barometz, and Metal Dragon (1/4)

Hooray! TURKEY TROT @simonkids.bsky.social wiggles its way onto shelves today. Look at those little legs! The front cover has no text, and we needed to make it so it could flip upside down to shelve legs up if needed (hence turkey #8). It results in a very poppy graphic image!
