This morning I am proud to stand with Detroit City Councilwoman Mary Waters and talk about the need to have an experienced fighter as our next Secretary of State who is ready to stand up for Detroiters on day one.
Donald Trump needs to hear this loud and clear: Michigan runs Michigan's elections, not the federal government and certainly not him.
I've fought him in court on his executive orders and won before, and I'll do it again.
The MIGOP have nominated someone with election experience who acts like a MAGA election denier but talks like a reasonable guy. We need someone who can debate him on the issues and kick his ass on the campaign trail, and that's me. I've run tough elections and won tough elections.
We are not a monarchy, we are a Democracy!

Thanks to the Michigan Construction and Building Trades Council for the opportunity to speak today. You know better than most why experience matters. In the trades, and for our next Secretary of State as well.
We must acknowledge that too often groups are targeted because of who they are, what they believe, and who they love and our leaders need to stand united to speak out against this kind of unspeakable violence.
My heart goes out to the Jewish community after yet another attack and display of anti-semitism, today taking the shape of an active shooter at Temple Israel.
