Arrival at Inverness was on time, leaving me 90 minutes to suss out where to by a takeaway and be ready to board to 1831 last train of the day on the Far North Line. Next stop:Thurso- Britain's most northern station.

Six minutes to spare! Enough time to grab a cup of tea before boarding the train to Inverness. It's a Class 43 HST!
This is the most time critical train: I only have 9 minutes in Edinburgh, so any delay will mean a missed connection and a consequent loss of dinner opportunity at Inverness.
Got into Manchester five minutes late. Still long enough to grab a tea and snack before trekking off to Platform 14and the 1021 to Edinburgh.
A successful first connection at Cheltenham Spa, only hampered by the train having four carriages rather than five. It is a bit crowded but at least I have a reserved seat.

Epic train journey for work commences: 0700 departure from Stroud to Worcester Shrub Hill. On time and not too busy, although the bacon rolls at the revamped station buffet aren't as good as they used to be.
