Friday evening viewing recommendation? On the Criterion Channel, watch William Friedkin’s TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. (1985) — a kinetic neonoir that takes the ’80s action thriller to new heights of hyperstylized excess. Now playing in our Stunts! collection.

Stars ARE just like us.
Remember how Sean Young dressed up as Catwoman and everyone collectively decided she was nuts? This month's Women They Warned You About looks at that moment, our inability to deal with feminine anger in Hollywood, and how shitty David Letterman was.

Maybe this weekend... 🤔
The ambiance-riddled The Mad Greek in Baker, CA, where you can also see The World's Tallest Thermometer and get Alien Jerky.
I just remembered that going for lottery tickets always, legally, morally, includes a stop at The Mad Greek.
I didn’t actually want to do this, but I also can’t stop having nature’s most perfect ideas!!
I received two freelance paychecks by total surprise today, so I’m just going to be grateful, keep my head down, and maybe drive to California to buy a lottery ticket.

As someone whose fave Scorsese is ALICE DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, I could never take anyone seriously who put that forth.
One day I rewatched that and then put on BRINGING OUT THE DEAD and just marveled at the dude in almost a fugue state afterward.
Almost through season 3, and it's been great (so to speak...) timing.
“Have you considered that it was just a dream?”
Deanna, girl I love you but it’s never been “just a dream” with this crew of main characters and you know it.

Three people at a dining table with a floral centerpiece. The woman on the left wears a black outfit and a red rose. The man in the center, wearing sunglasses and a gray t-shirt, is pouring a drink into a glass. The woman on the right, dressed in black, is smiling. Glasses and a platter of food are visible on the table.

@shudder.com just dropped a great promo (with John Kassir!) and definitely looks like those 35 mm prints are upgraded to HD.

It’s hard to overstate how much of this moment is driven by people who got a taste of accountability and were very, very mad about it.
If I weren't deep into season 3, I'd be losing it!

I’m almost done with my TNG watch-through on Blu-ray. These are dark times to run out of those episodes.
It dragged you outta bed too, eh?
Where do you think it got your coordinates and the tiny bullets?
In lighter news, in my front lawn, it’s dodging roll poly season. I love those little guys, and I refuse to squish any ever. 🫡
I have had some version of "he wants all of us to be buried with him" in stuff I've written about Trump in the past and usually but not always taken it out. It didn't like looking at it, mostly, but over time it just became one of those things that was too obvious to bother with. It's all sickening.
