Mr. Charlie’s is as good as everyone says it is, but it’s in one of the worst places imaginable to get to by transit: on La Brea near Melrose Ave.
The D extension will make it slightly easier, but it’ll still be a 212 bus trip north.

SkyLink announcements somewhat audible from just outside the station.
Congratulations to Seattle's Sound Transit, America's fastest-growing train network, which is opening an 7-mile, 3-station extension across Lake Washington today!
This is the system's 5th new segment opened in 2 years, continually pushing ridership up to new record highs!

Those Lafayette Square homeowners talk about Ralph’s like it’s a fucking temple.
Welp I spoke my public comment in front of the metro board
A new overhead sign at Wilshire/Vermont Station navigating people to the B/D lines via elevator. A handicap sign is also present. These signs have not been updated since the station opened ~30 years ago.

🚨 THURSDAY: Show up to save the K Line Northern Extension! 🚨
Mayor Bass and her allies on the board may once again try to delay it over NON issues.
NIMBYism is putting the whole project at risk.

Somewhat related but Cedars-Sinai announced today they're acquiring the Beverly Connection shopping center for future expansion, right across the street from future La Cienega/Beverly station.

Imagine if the people mover was actually operational when this happened. jfc
Considering the rental car center opened without any warning, I won’t be surprised if they do the same to SkyLink.
No fanfare. No announcement. The sun will rise and LAX will be like “oh and our people mover is open by the way.”
That one surprised me. Ridership is awful (300/day avg? Sheesh). Either they were able to make costs work, or they feel it’s a good loss leader in exchange for the publicity Metro will get by having a station at such a known destination.
The Avis family of rental car companies were already in there, but now the Enterprise and Hertz groups and a couple more companies have moved in.
They are continuing to use shuttle buses until SkyLink is active.
LAX Rental Car Center (ConRAC) officially opened today.
Commenters. Otherwise we’ll be sick of it.
LAX and LAWA have done a horrible job educating the public about their changes. A lot of people think the only way to get to LAX is drive yourself or rideshare.
I’ll bet most of LA doesn’t even know about the APM, or the relocations and closures that will be occurring because of said APM.
Diagram of car rental lots and parking lots that will be moving into the consolidated facility at Los Angeles International Airport
Between the car rental companies and the LAX employee parking, which will take over the top floor of the ConRAC, this will free up a lot of land around LAX that I hope gets turned into something better than a parking lot.
LAWA approved a motion at their last meeting to begin moving the remaining car rental companies into the ConRAC by mid March.
Currently only the Avis family of companies (Avis, Budget, Payless, Zipcar) are in there.

A close-up of the sign where it says Metro next to the LA Metro logo.
It’s good to know LAX’s SkyLink will be using the LA Metro logo in its signage. I honestly expected them not to do that.
The old normal is bad. Time for something better.
“Riding it out“ is how we got here.
It’s becoming clearer that if the US were to invade Greenland, despite Denmark‘s wishes, the EU would persuade them to give it up.
The trains will probably start saying “La Cienega” on them once pre-rev starts.

Looking down at the former LAX City Bus Center, now a holding zone for coach buses at LAX.
in case you ever wondered what happened to the LAX City Bus Center, it's a coach bus staging area now.

Also, Maintenance Drive, the LAWA owned road that runs north-south between Metro's and SkyLink's maintenance yards, has opened to traffic.
