I STRONGLY recommend people read "Blood in the Machines" by @bcmerchant.bsky.social on better understanding what actual Luddites were like, which will arm you better for understanding one possible way this transition could go--and how it might go better this time.

"My mentor always tells me, 'Kim, dogs don’t bark at parked cars." They’re coming after critical race theory, 1619, intersectionality because these ideas mobilized people. They gave them the language to actually articulate what they were seeing with their own eyes," says Kimberlé Crenshaw.

Epstein Files Reminder: USA has a child marriage epidemic—it's even worse than you think Despite more than 300,000 documented child marriages since 2000, Republicans are fighting to keep it that way

DOJ estimates Epstein trafficked at least 200 children.

And, experts estimate ~2600 minors were forced into a child marriage in the United States in 2025—a trend expected to continue in 2026.

Here’s how bad the situation is, and what we can do to stop it.

Rosalind Franklin died at 37 of ovarian cancer attributed to radiation exposure from the methods she & her assistant used to photograph a cross-section of the DNA double helix.

Meanwhile, Watson won a Nobel off that work & survived to the ripe old age of 97 by simply: stealing those notes!

Ezra is right. In 2010, 1/4 of the House Dem caucus was pro-life. Without those votes Dems cannot build a strong majority.

AND THEN THEY LOST. THEY ALL FUCKING LOST TO REPUBLICANS. IT WAS FIFTEEN YEARS AGO AND THEY NEVER GOT ELECTED AGAIN BECAUSE PEOPLE JUST VOTED FOR THE REPUBLICAN. DO ACTUALLY NOT FUCKING COMPREHEND WHY THAT HAPPENED

This is something the Republican Party has been working on for some time. I first tracked it in Florida where a bill gained traction that would have taken away nonprofit status from lgbt nonprofits.

Even wrote a story on it.

We are very much at increased risk of these kinds of fascist crackdowns.

New Bill Would Give Marco Rubio “Thought Police” Power to Revoke U.S. Passports Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already sought to punish immigrants for speech. New legislation might let him revoke passports from U.S. citizens.

This text is buried in a larger bill. Don’t want Marco Rubio to be personally responsible for revoking people’s passports based on thought crimes? Call your reps about it!
