What was the tipping point when UX became so terrible? Nothing works anymore, and not just because of bugs. Hiding scroll bars, hijacking system buttons, magic gestures, it's all trash. Software sucks by design now.

What if we had a big public leaderboard that rich people can compete on to see who can pay the most in taxes?

Trump Administration Opens the Door for ICE to Target Anyone Suspected of Being Trans Under a new rule, the State Department will be able to revoke trans people's visas over "misrepresentation." It'll give ICE grounds to suspect all trans people of being in the US illegally.

This administration sure does seem preoccupied with what people have in their pants. What perverts.

If I wanted to compromise the defenses of a competing nation, I might convince them to start an expensive war with someone else. Just saying.

An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.

Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.

This is pure cruelty.

Anti-Trans National Legal Risk Assessment Map: Feb 2026 The situation continues to deteriorate when it comes to transgender youth care. For adults, we see Kansas as the newest state added to a "Do Not Travel" advisory list.

Just a quick reminder about the shameful state of transgender rights in the US

I generally stop listening to someone when they start a sentence with "the human eye can only". Not because I lose respect, but because I start winding back to how much foundational knowledge would be required to fix that level of popsci misunderstanding, and I forget we were talking.

Sen. Mark Kelly would be a stronger presidential candidate than anyone in the past decade. How can you do anything other than respect this guy?

Look, I'm quite progressive and understand that not everyone has a private place to get high, but maybe don't smoke your fent on the sidewalk less than a block from a middle school?

I'm not sure why I never noticed before. It's quite startling how much "the mugshot" resembles big brother in 1984.

The problem with rust unwrap (other than it should be named something else) is that it's in all of the tutorials. It's a runtime fatal assert, and reaching for that as a tool should be extremely rare. People learning rust (and I suspect AI) see unwrap and assume it's idiomatic.

You can write an extension method on UnityEngine.Object that returns null for destroyed objects. That gets close, and I've seen something similar used in a few codebases. (Using it consistently is still an issue though)
