The 4th TWiML Workshop was a blast! 🚀
With more than 80 participants, we had an engaging day with four inspiring researchers who shared their insights and experiences through presentations and a lively panel discussion.
A big thank you to all participants and speakers⚡

Portrait of Dr. Yatong Chen
Meet our fourth speaker: Dr. Yatong Chen, a group leader in the Social Foundations of Computation Department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. Her work focuses on the social aspects of ML, considering human decision subjects' responses when developing algorithmic systems.
Portrait of Dr. Alina Wernick
The 4th workshop of TWiML features four speakers, and today, we are excited to introduce our third speaker: Dr. Alina Wernick, who leads the Law, AI, and Society Group.
We are delighted to introduce our next speaker: Dr. Sahar Abdelnabi, who leads the COMPASS research group at the @ellisinsttue.bsky.social, Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, and @tuebingen-ai.bsky.social.

I had such a great time helping organize EWRL 2025 with an amazing team 🎉
Loved being part of it and meeting so many passionate reinforcement learning enthusiasts!

Second day of #EWRL2025 kicking off with an inspiring talk by Peter Dayan!
“How could it be that we, or an agent, could want something that it does not like, or like something that it would not be willing to exert any effort to acquire?”
Fascinating talk by Amy Zhang
on Proto Successor Measures at #EWRL 2025.

I wrote a short post on our newest ICML paper addressed at people who are not experts in machine learning. Check it out!
Super excited for this year EWRL! See you all there 💫
🎙️ Let’s hear from our next speaker: Peter Dayan, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics.
🧠 Talk title: Liking, Shaping and Biological Alignment

Soapbox Science is a fun public science event where female and non-binary scientists share their research to the streets with open-air talks. The speakers are specially trained to make their science accessible and enjoyable for everyone — including kids!
Onno and I will be presenting our poster at # W1005 tomorrow (Wed) morning.
He made a great thread about it, come chat with us about POMDP theory :)
I am in Vancouver at ICML, and tomorrow I will present our newest paper "Partially Observable Reinforcement Learning with Memory Traces". We argue that eligibility traces are more effective than sliding windows as a memory mechanism for RL in POMDPs. 🧵
Meet the speakers🎤
Gerhard Neumann (alr.iar.kit.edu/21_65.php) is a full professor at the KIT, where he is Chair of Autonomous Learning Robots. His research explores the intersection of machine learning, robotics, and human-robot interaction.
Meet the speakers🎤
Leif Döring (www.wim.uni-mannheim.de/doering/team...) is a professor at the University of Mannheim, working on stochastic processes, theory and applications. His research currently focuses on RL problems. He won awards for both his research and teaching and co-founded two startups
This morning at #RLDM I talked about Memory Traces, a simple representation for POMDPs that’s probably good at remembering old observations.

Great talk by @claireve.bsky.social about our joint work on memory traces this morning. Come join me at poster 94 if you want to know more! #RLDM2025
