Exactly! Her own personality and wit shine through every sentence.
Thank you!

Those waves are wonderful! I love painting the sea (or trying to)
I used to love those books when I was a child! They were all in the local library, and this picture brings back my delight ππ
Beautiful - and an excellent demonstration, thanks ππβΊοΈ
wonderful atmosphere in your pictures πππ
I can't understand people who go to the theatre and cannot manage without food and drink for two hours. (Haven't been to the cinema since those buckets of popcorn started showing up πΏπ¬)
Thanks for reminding me of this poem, because I just love it - rhythm, words, everything π
The BBC drama is very well done - but to me, the characters are just not Jane Austen's, so I'm giving up πβΉοΈ
Beautiful effectππ¨π
In the original, Mary was always the one who pushed herself forward for the piano, etc, and Lizzie was actually very kind to her. As for Janice Hadlow's book, I'm afraid I can't get over Mr Bennet dying early on - he is deliciously, dryly funny, and has some of the best lines in P&P (imho) π
I'm a bit disappointed too - and I do agree with you about the music. (I'm trying to imagine e.g. 'Hamlet' on stage, with musicians plonking away to add atmosphere π€¨)
This is truly frightening.
Lovely scene. Wish I was there!
I visited Brantwood a few years ago. Good to be reminded of a beautiful house and its amazing owner.
Happy writing to you. May your words flow! (mine too)

What sound and useful advice - thanks
Great advice π

We've had plenty of rain in Derbyshire lately, so I took a break from writing to paint a watery landscape

I do agree! 'Middlemarch' is another favourite of mine (though I still love Jane Austen's humour) π
I'm an Elizabeth Gaskell too, and loved North and South. I wonder if she's not popular as Austen because her novels are Victorian, and TV, films etc adore the Regency period?
Thanks for the reminder of Bath - I visited long ago and loved it. β€οΈ I seem to have missed out on the Romans though!
Reminds me of Leonard Cohen, whose songs used to encapsulate those post-party hours (and days)
Beautiful paintingβ€οΈ
I never realised these hats were so useful for draining off the rain! (Maybe we should bring them into fashion) π
