Rehabilitation of the Dandelion!
No other plant in the Netherlands attracts as many bee species: 107. In early spring, when nothing else is blooming, it is simply there. Meadow bird chicks that have just hatched depend on the insects that are drawn to dandelions. No dandelion, no insect, no chick.
Thank you!
Thank you Peter
Medieval illumination showing richly decorated noblemen and noblewomen in a rural environment with a castle in the background and an astronomical calendar above them showing changing signs of the zodiac appropriate to April.
Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote,
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licóur
Of which vertú engendred is the flour…

Alice Augusta Ball found the cure for leprosy at 23.
She died in a mysterious lab accident at 24.
Arthur Dean stole her research, stole it and renamed it from "The Ball Method" to "The Dean Method."
It took 90 years before her original research papers were found and she got the credit due to her.

AI slop designed purely to get Likes and therefore money for the poster that costs us horrific environmental destruction and warps the fabric of our reality. So you can go ‘oooh how sweet’ wild animals and their habitats are destroyed. Not so cute really.

I heard the term ‘Chocolate Christians’ yesterday to describe those racists who get all Christified during the Pagan Fertility Egg season and have a rampage about ‘EASTER’ not being stamped on everything from confectionery to tea towels whilst necking the cooking lager and shouting at their kids.

A 3,500 year-old Egyptian glass cosmetic jar with two little duck heads! 🦆❤️
It belonged to a lady called Merit. Glass was a relatively new material at that time, so it would have been a precious possession.

I don't know how book banning is a thing. The minute a librarian or teacher is asked to remove a book they should ask for that request in writing, with names attached, and go straight to the socials with this fuckery
Black and white photo of "la Dama de Elche" (the Lady of Elche), an ancient Iberian limestone bust of a woman shown from the chest up. She has a calm, solemn expression and wears an elaborate headpiece with large circular side ornaments, along with layered necklaces and detailed garments. Dramatic lighting against a dark background highlights the intricate carvings and weathered texture of the sculpture.

I posted about the Battersea shield & the wonders of ancient British bronzework recently, so now here’s the Waterloo helmet (found in the Thames at this location). Originally, the bronze would have gleamed like gold & it was decorated with red glass studs.
