You really gotta keep an eye on these robots if you want anything remotely good.
I complained because it added some random map to a `struct Options` which, well, was just options - not a spot for state. So it started making a method with a `static std::unordered_map` to keep the data inside..
Did it! Made it through. Have to admit I turned on some assists, though. Real good game.
Having said that, it still gets stuck in interactive rebases every day 🤷♂️
Clankers are great. Deep in debugging a rendering issue in PDFium which would have taken me a week before to find the magic switch of what goes wrong - robot just found it. Still iterating on a fix but pinpointing issues is so good.
Oh this is awesome! I don’t check social media during the day for once and this happens. Yay!
"Should we also refactor that API more?"
> No, I don't think so; we don't want broad changes here.
"I think so"
> Agreed!
Clankers aren't very good at pushing back.
Google must have a fun one. Lots of repositories on chromium.googlesource.com (f.e. chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src...) return "We're sorry...
... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries." for everyone right now.
Hah. Ok. At 70% context full codex starts not reviewing with me and just doing. 🫠
Something I have to do every 3-6 weeks is merge some of our code with upstream (github.com/mhagger/git-... is great!). It's never fun. I was just bragging how good my clanker is doing at it on Slack; right as it just started modifying files and not just investigate like we did the whole time..
Being more active on random developer Discords shows you a lot about humanity. From very entitled people to very clueless people and also random ass spam.
Ok, got a bit better and it’s a pretty good feeling afterwards. I climbed that mountain! It’s like Elden Ring for old people like me with no good reaction times, hah
Been playing Cairn after having a gaming slump for months and I like it a lot. Mostly. I’m ridiculously bad at it. 🫤
Pi? It’s very good.
Hey, we have that in Ohio too
One of the reasons I dislike so much of the AI discourse. I’m using LLMs a lot. I personally wish we’d never have let them loose in the world and I do think we were better off before.
But they are here and I’d rather learn how to use them than stick my head in the sand.
Reading some of the takes about Peter here and on X feels less like criticism and more like people shadowboxing their own hatred towards AI. Maybe good to remember that Peter is a real person and one that I know quite well. The criticism thrown his direction from some people is heavily misplaced.
ich bin als alter weisser mann gefestigt genug zu sagen: Star Fleet Academy is cute and good actually, fuck off with your tired gate keeping.
For what’s it worth, this discussion did open my eyes towards this issue a lot which definitely was in my blind spot. Definitely something my brain will mull over quite a bit.
Yeah I don’t think I agree with that at all but I’m also quite sure that no discussion about this would change each others mind. 🤷♂️
Clippyclawd? I’d try it
I think it’s tricky. It really started as a little hobby project a few weeks back and just *exploded* in popularity. I don’t think it’s so much as the care isn’t on display, just that there wasn’t time yet to put that care in while it exploded.
Don’t think the incredible hype right now is helping it.
It is weird. And I did fall into the clawdbot hole for a week and it definitely did bad things to my brain.
I primarily think it’s too clunky and unreliable so far - typical LLM stuff. I’m still using it and I think it can be used in a way that is helpful and not overbearing. We will see.
Ok, that makes sense. My argument would be that it’s at least an open source project instead of Meta shoving it down your throat. IMHO it’s inevitable that we’re going there, just a question of when and who.
But yeah, totally understand where you’re coming from now, thanks for explaining!
First, true. But I’m not quite sure how anyone is pushing anyone towards harmful behaviors? Also, not trying to be an internet troll, I think I really don’t understand?
You don’t have to like it or use it, of course, but I promise there are no bad intentions behind it.
Just to push back a little - I know Peter who started it. He’s a real good dude.
Don’t think the plan was for this to become as big and as hype-y. Just a little hobby project that resonated with people, seeing how far these LLMs can be pushed.
It is starting to look like MCP is the new SOAP.
