GRANGE HILL: "Slip on the wet floor, did you?" Phil Redmond's hard-hitting school drama didn't pull its punches. In a 'they did things differently back then' scene from 1981, hard but fair P.E. teacher 'Bullet' Baxter doles out justice to a colleague who's been bullying kids.

Two reasons to be in Brighton on Sunday:

🏍️ It's the final day of The Sussex Lancers: Tailor-Made Leather Lovers exhibition curated by @alfleflo.bsky.social at Brighton Museum.

📚 We'll be tabling alongside lots of other lovely zinesters at the RTS #zinefair from 12 to 5. See you all there!

RIP Desmond Morris. His many achievements include writing The Naked Ape, having his paintings exhibited alongside those of Joan Miró, presenting the Zoo Time TV series, and designing a new logo for Oxford UnIted that is still in use 47 years later #OUFC

In my study, late at night, I look into the crackling fire and chuckle into my brandy about Croydon Spaceport having become a vast multi-channel commercial property

Bookshop.org: Buy books online. Support local bookstores. A better way to buy books online. Every purchase financially supports local independent bookstores.

And I'll make this plea again. Shop at indie bookstores. Boycott fucking Amazon, the worst of the worst, one of the most vile & destructive enterprises that has ever existed.

If you like to shop online use Bookshop.org a consortium of indie booksellers. Just as convenient as Amazon, w/o the evil.

Ha - I remember the first time I came back from Ireland on my own, arriving from Holyhead in the middle of the night and waiting for that newsagent to open, to see what comics had come out while I'd been away (1985, so some Secret Wars II tie-ins, IIRC)

Dad died nine years ago today. ❤️

But he wouldn't let a silly little thing like death stop him from being out photographing street art in #Penge...

To read Dad's story - and help us support St Christopher's hospice - head to bit.ly/dadgraffiti

Dropped of sketched copies of Stramash to the fine folks at @goshcomics.bsky.social Londons finest and fanciest comic shop. They also stock a really large range of all sorts of small press comics not just weird sweary Scottish gangster folk horror comics.

Poor old R was probably sick of people buying copies for her, having casually mentioned *once* that she enjoyed working-class novels with lesbianism and incest

I still think of Bone Machine, Real Gone etc as the ‘new’ ones that I should get to know as well as Rain Dogs etc

Started S2 of The Bear last night - it seemed much more conventional in terms of editing, tone, structure, ping-pong 'clever' dialogue etc. Did anyone else think that?

Through gritted teeth: the thing on Am*zon Prime where you can call up the biogs of actors in a scene is very useful
