We were happy to see our hospice MP @jakerichardsmp.bsky.social a few days ago. As well as talking all things funding, @eveholroyd.bsky.social and I brought Jake up to date with how our services and team have developed over the past year since he last visited.

Women are also unsafe in bars… what’s the plan for that minister?
(Ps. @BBCnews can you use my licence fee to buy a grammar checker?)
Closing bars could risk MPs' safety, says minister www.bbc.com/news/article...
I'm pleased to share our #editorial, written with @eveholroyd.bsky.social on the value of #partnership and #collaboration in children's hospices. You can read it in the journal, Nursing Children and Young People, here: doi.org/10.7748/ncyp...

This makes me want to become a yoga teacher to be able to support families and loved ones who have lost a baby, child or young person ✨ The power of breath and the mind is fascinating and its usefulness not to be underestimated.
Great news for #hospices in England today, following the funding announcement… and a good excuse to share our new editorial on #children’s hospices, written with @eveholroyd.bsky.social and published in #RCNi Nursing Children and Young People. You can read it here, for free:

I floated this idea today. Turns out the team want different dance styles depending on the meeting.
This really makes me want to do a PhD!! Maybe I’ll start minuting meetings differently instead..
I could not be prouder of this organisation, a hospice that is built not of a building but of incredible people, each with their own unique and valuable contribution #teambluebell
Just managed to catch up on the ITV Tonight programme outlining challenges faced by hospices. Children’s hospices are a lifeline for families. Medical care only a fraction of what is on offer; mostly it’s about supporting living and creating safe spaces. 15% statutory funding just doesn’t cut it.
I still have to turn away from the spaghetti armed chest compressions!
Wonderful afternoon visiting an incredible children’s hospice with attached adult hospice today. We arrived to all patients and families watching a puppet show in the main communal area and heard a warming tale of the impact of some children attending the dementia group. Feeling inspired 🥰
Palliative care seems to be crumbling whilst parliament vote on assisted dying…a scary combination.
Read this thread. “As it crumbles, parliament discuss assisted dying”.
A failure to properly fund palliative care will push people down this road.
Two things are guaranteed in life: birth and death. One is predominantly funded by struggling charities. Fix this first.
No - in the UK and brought up on the Wirral
Slow. Clap.
Optimists: The glass is half full.
Pessimists: The glass is half empty.
Palliative Care professional: What do you want in the glass?
My sister in law and I chatted last night about the future of hospices..With digital innovation and more virtual solutions, what direction could hospices go? Buildings are expensive to run? Interested in any innovative services out there in #hapc #palliativecare #hospice #hospicecare #hospiceathome
Cream background with blue and black text inviting people to give their experiences as Young Carers, and/or Young Adult Carers, who have been bereaved when they were caring for a family member, who died when the young/young adult carer was 25 years old or younger. If this describes you, please contact Noreen by email at Hopewell-KellyN2@cardiff.ac.uk. If this describes someone you know, please share this invitation with them. Thank you.
Did you care for a family member who died when you were aged 25 or under?

Would love to be added if you have space 🙏🏼
Post a picture you took (no description) to bring some zen to the timeline…
I’ve recently taken on a new role at a children’s hospice here in the UK. We have a fountain in the garden and sometimes I just sit for 5 minutes and watch it. You’re right it is such a reset tool! We should start a #fountainsofbluesky thread!
What a beautiful face to support people on such a poignant journey. He’s lovely ❤️
Joined here last week as part of the mass X-odus. Realised when I was writing my bio I’d lost all hobbies and was a 2 dimensional full time work/Mum. So I joined an adult ballet class. It was not easy - I’d forgotten all the moves have French names and my hip flexors have forgotten their flexiness.

Reportedly Wes Streeting will vote against the assisted dying bill saying “end-of-life care is currently not good enough to give people a real choice”
Does the health sec realise how much EoL care continues to be charitably funded…?
Perhaps addressing PEoLC funding first isn’t too wild an idea.
