We were happy to see our hospice MP @jakerichardsmp.bsky.social a few days ago. As well as talking all things funding, @eveholroyd.bsky.social and I brought Jake up to date with how our services and team have developed over the past year since he last visited.

Closing Parliament's bars could risk MPs' safety, says Lucy Powell Commons leader Lucy Powell says she is open to debate about bars in Parliament but they serve a purpose.

Women are also unsafe in bars… what’s the plan for that minister?

(Ps. @BBCnews can you use my licence fee to buy a grammar checker?)

This makes me want to become a yoga teacher to be able to support families and loved ones who have lost a baby, child or young person ✨ The power of breath and the mind is fascinating and its usefulness not to be underestimated.

I floated this idea today. Turns out the team want different dance styles depending on the meeting.

I could not be prouder of this organisation, a hospice that is built not of a building but of incredible people, each with their own unique and valuable contribution #teambluebell

Just managed to catch up on the ITV Tonight programme outlining challenges faced by hospices. Children’s hospices are a lifeline for families. Medical care only a fraction of what is on offer; mostly it’s about supporting living and creating safe spaces. 15% statutory funding just doesn’t cut it.

Wonderful afternoon visiting an incredible children’s hospice with attached adult hospice today. We arrived to all patients and families watching a puppet show in the main communal area and heard a warming tale of the impact of some children attending the dementia group. Feeling inspired 🥰

Palliative care seems to be crumbling whilst parliament vote on assisted dying…a scary combination.

Read this thread. “As it crumbles, parliament discuss assisted dying”.

A failure to properly fund palliative care will push people down this road.

Two things are guaranteed in life: birth and death. One is predominantly funded by struggling charities. Fix this first.

My sister in law and I chatted last night about the future of hospices..With digital innovation and more virtual solutions, what direction could hospices go? Buildings are expensive to run? Interested in any innovative services out there in #hapc #palliativecare #hospice #hospicecare #hospiceathome

I’ve recently taken on a new role at a children’s hospice here in the UK. We have a fountain in the garden and sometimes I just sit for 5 minutes and watch it. You’re right it is such a reset tool! We should start a #fountainsofbluesky thread!

Joined here last week as part of the mass X-odus. Realised when I was writing my bio I’d lost all hobbies and was a 2 dimensional full time work/Mum. So I joined an adult ballet class. It was not easy - I’d forgotten all the moves have French names and my hip flexors have forgotten their flexiness.

Reportedly Wes Streeting will vote against the assisted dying bill saying “end-of-life care is currently not good enough to give people a real choice”

Does the health sec realise how much EoL care continues to be charitably funded…?

Perhaps addressing PEoLC funding first isn’t too wild an idea.
