No relief for anyone in Lebanon. Israel is hammering Beirut so that Bibi can appear independent of Washington to his fanatic murderous base, a base that can only be sated with Arab blood. Hundreds of casualties just in the last 12 hours. Israel is the most dangerously country on earth.
a nuclear armed rogue state, having started a holy war of aggression with its illegally nuclear-armed vassal, is now pledging to commit a genocide
I love this!
In less than a month, "Israel has struck at least 128 medical facilities and ambulances across south Lebanon, killing 40 healthcare workers and wounding 107."

A good time to read @lalehkhalili.bsky.social's book 'Sinews of War and Trade: Shipping and Capitalism in the Arabian Peninsula'.
Or if you don't have time to do that, how about the review-essay I wrote about the book on my Substack during a previous war-related shipping crisis:
I wrote about Lyd (2023) and Two Blue Lines (2015) for Films for the Feminist Classroom, in a piece titled "Permission to Imagine: Palestinian Liberation and the Failures of Liberal Democracy." Lyd is such a beautiful and inventive film. Watch the trailer here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LypA...
Aaaaand then they came for the people who denounced the open letter! Bei dem Jungle World Redakteur brennen die Synapsen durch. Wie könnte das nur passieren? Wenn die kuffiye antisemitisch ist, wie die all behaupten, dann kann sie sich damit nicht ablichten lassen! Wo sind wir denn

I was in NYC last night, and I didn’t even know how much I (and everyone else) needed a shared political moment that just felt hopeful and exciting (and not cynical, for once!) 🥲 we need feelings like this on the left, too!

I always feel this weird mixture of grief-cum-pride, both an analytical grasp of class and an intimate affective reaction, whenever I understand that people who are my age and have extremely productive academic careers have most likely grown up to parents who are also writers/professors/academics
This scheme is still open, and includes Palestine:
Does anyone have any book/article recs on the methodological and ethical questions of studying up (i.e., ethnographic studies of politicians, corporations, government employees)?
