Painting of a lorikeet blue yellow red bird on a dark green abstract leafy background, bird is eating from a pink gum tree blossom
Finished the lorikeet #painting. I have had offers to buy it but I do not sell originals. I do however sell prints and happily have a customer for a print already (paint barely dry).

#EV fact of the day.
I can "refuel" from more than one fuel type..
AC, DC, Solar, Wind, Hydro, molten salts, and even yes, Petrol and Diesel, and still be more efficient than a diesel or petrol car.

Comic. Someone is claiming to predict the exact date of a future earthquake. Should you listen? [flowchart: start] → NO (There are big earthquakes constantly, so if anyone ever *does* figure this out, it will be immediately obvious that their method works and then the world’s seismologists will not shut up about it. You won’t need this flowchart.)

The thing the KVM manufacturers still seem to break is the K&M part… the video, I agree throw money for best parts if you need the refresh. But why do keyboard and mouse often cause so much grief, especially if you use non MS/Logi ⌨️ or a Mac!

What has been done to make this mega-cluster(-fk) of a DC more environmentally friendly?
Is it using only renewable energy?
And not consuming water by the megalitre?
Or is it just same same shite, done on a bigger scale?

Usually it’s a small bug that brings systems to their knees, like say a ‘u’ getting changed for an ‘i’ in ‘bug’ 😉

Now why did I look at this and think “it looks like that Hyundai hydrogen race concept?”

the new generation of drivers will cope fine, as their mindsets will be ‘stop and charge’ for every break, rather than ‘how far can I go’. It is also a much safer way to approach a long drive.
Obviously we need more chargers in rural areas too but that’s a build out prob, like early petrol days

Agree. DC fast charging (150+ kW) and enough actual units per site that queues are short and failures can be worked around. (Petrol stations often have a unit out of order but most don’t notice as you just use another pump.)

Have you noticed plane turbulence is getting worse?
It’s not your imagination. It’s climate change.

…this is why most organisations miss the ‘insider threat’ stuff too - it’s just too hard to compute until your internal trust matrix is broken and needs to be reset.
And yeah it’s a big problem. Not insurmountable but the rest of world needs to work tgther to bring the three big evils back in check

So what if white supremacists had the hydrogen bomb, worldwide military bases, a flotilla of aircraft carriers, a wing of stealth bombers and a tech surveillance panopticon? Was not a question I would’ve been expecting myself to ask.

Portrait photo of John G. Hutton, General Engineering Lab of General Electric
70 years ago today, (Sept 22, 1955) a General Electric scientist warned about carbon dioxide build-up.
C02 “may be having a greenhouse effect on our climate” because mankind is “contaminating the earth’s atmosphere faster than nature can clean it.”

#Android #Pixel #Scooter
Planned on commuting today with my new e-scooter, but f&$king Google/Android decided to throw a wrench into things.
iPhone pairs and works perfectly without issues. Pixel 8 Pro? Appears to work until you mount it to the scooter. Then, in typical Google “let’s suck up as…

If monopoly was invented today the tokens would be like a labubu, a nice pair of crocs, a cybertruck, 150mg of Wellbutrin, a Stanley cup, and a mini goldendoodle, and the players would just go around the board paying rent until everybody loses

Look at the math around the energy storage using gravity… to do what was suggested in the article requires massive (like 10,000s of tons) or weight for km deep shafts, to return what a battery takes up a tiny space or pumped hydro can do much cheaper.

Gravity Storage 101, Or Why Pumped Hydro Is The Only Remotely Real Gravity Storage - CleanTechnica
As a reminder, pumped hydro is the gravity storage solution that actually works, unlike sand, elevators, and hillside rail systems.
👆this
Came to the comments to see if the math had been done… interesting comments but when you work out how much weight needs to travel how far for any amount of kWh, let alone MWh, you realise this tech won’t go far.
