To wrap up the event, we handed out some Sebastian Raschka's book on "Build a LLM (from scratch)" and Michigan AI Lab giveaways to the hackathon participants, making it the perfect conclusion to my first trip to Africa. 🤗
The sprint brought together Kenyan participants to leverage AI in creating tools that simplify access to scientific evidence to connect climate change, biodiversity loss, and human health. What stood out most was the mission to bridge science with real-world applications!
During the event, I delivered a talk on LLM agents and shared insights from my research on using agents to explore biases, misinformation, and cultural awareness in AI models (slides can be found at anganab.github.io). I also had the opportunity to mentor the participants.
I had an incredible experience at the Ecosystems, Finance & Health Innovation Sprint 2025 (ecosystemsfinancehealth.org/hackathon-2025) in Nairobi, Kenya.
