My mind is blown. £2.8m for a 5-bed semi-detached house on the major arterial road through our village, anyone? A study in grey with (what looks like) astroturf.

I did my Scout first aid refresher training today. I am once again terrified of everything and anything going awry but fingers crossed it’ll be the same as the last three years and I won’t use it at all.
They go through standard doorways with space to spare and have good turning circles. Recommend tying the boxes on. Happy to show you my set up!
Would a sackbarrow work? I transfer 6-8 boxes of records to the College Archive tied onto a sackbarrow.

Churchill Runners on Nearly Every Surface (CRONES) material
It’s nearly ready… the 1991-1996 @churchillcol.bsky.social alumni reunion archive display! Featuring old favourites like matriculation photographs as well as college societies (CRONES) and a take on a well-known ad.
A yellow glazed ceramic bowl with the phrase “This too shall pass but blooming heck”.
I have collected my bowl from this term’s wellbeing pottery session from the postgrad office where it has been making colleagues across College chuckle. Definitely feeling the message today after our Easter visit.
Survived another in-laws visit, just. Highlight was randomly seeing a fFriend I’d not seen in about 10 yrs in the local churchyard. I’ve been weirdly homesick for the quiet faith and support of Almeley Wootton Meeting ever since.
In the interests of accuracy, the site hasn’t actually been chosen yet but none of the possible options will be quite as central as we are now… which will in itself bring benefits of easier access for deliveries and emergency services.
Played mystery lunch with an unlabelled frozen meal (watery ham hock stew thing and I didn’t freeze it!) and it really wasn’t great. Happily I made kheer (cardamom-spiced Indian rice pudding) yesterday and that made up for it. Lunchtime win.

Turns out the alto coughing her head off next to me the whole way through…has given me her stinking cold. Folks: if you’re sick, stay home even if it means missing the concert. Have we learnt nothing from the pandemic?!
First ice cream of the year! It’s been one heck of a day and quite frankly, by school pick up time, it felt well deserved.

Ah, I sat too long on the sofa… mobilisation to get to bed could be interesting. Throbbing feet, tired legs…and stairs.
Making music in a group is amazing. I know you’re busy busy but when you have a little time, find a community choir and start there. I have never had singing lessons - I started in a mass youth choir and just kept on singing.
I didn’t like the piece until we came together with the orchestra and soloists. Even then there are bits I’m ambivalent about but there also some amazing bits. Well worth a listen to.
My first concert in the best part of 10 years: Dvorak’s Requiem with full orchestra and four soloists. My feet are throbbing, my knees and back ache, my voice is rather husky (blame those top Es) but we (the Cambridge Philharmonic) did it. 🎉 🎶
It’s amazing what you can do with normal clothes, an old pillowcase, a length of wide ribbon, and some speedy sewing. Our 6yo made it to school, on time, dressed as Hiccup, and looked quite convincing.
We had such an amazing time - thanks for the tips! The YHA was great and 6yo played endless games of table football with other kids. Now slowly planning our next YHA half-term getaway… any tips for extra kid-friendly YHAs?
How do you find these amazing properties?! This is certainly… special.
Little one has actually asked *not* to go there. He’s beyond excited about Vikings so it’s perfect that we’re there during the Viking Festival. I am going to drag him to other stuff, too, like the walls and minster.
Where is this? Little one and I are heading to York on Monday for the week.
🎉We are very happy to share the news that Churchill College’s Governing Body has voted in favour of plans to build a new Churchill Archives Centre within the Grounds of the College. www.chu.cam.ac.uk/news-and-eve...
Thank goodness for slow cookers. 9.30pm we realise we’ve failed to cook for tomorrow & have nothing we can easily cook for lunch. One chopped onion, 2 sliced red peppers (and much adding of other ingredients not requiring slicing) later, chilli should be ready at about 8am…to be reheated for lunch.
I don’t suppose you have images of the garden before? Did you paint the bedroom or was that their mess?
Get them to be very specific if possible and then tear into the list. Our landlord/agent tried the same after 12m and we got the whole back after a small fight…and a list of what had had to be fixed/complained about.
On an entirely different note, we’ve just started reading The Wee Free Men to our 6yo. He’s heard it before but can’t remember and this time he’s getting the jokes. Yay!
Husband and son finally persuaded me to enter a joint Minecraft world…now whose house and farm are biggest?! 😂 Tonight’s proud achievement is a magma-fired hot tub overlooking the ocean and an ice house for storing produce.
