Yesterday at Delaware State University, students from New Castle, Kent, & Sussex County joined DE Secretary of State Jeffrey Bullock for the 2024 convening of the electoral college. Three electors cast ballots for Kamala Harris for President & Tim Walz for VP, winners of the popular vote in DE.
We got to witness history today at Delaware’s Electoral College proceedings where our 3 electors cast their votes for a woman of color. Thanks @decivics.bsky.social for this special opportunity! #sschat #edusky

Excited for this event that the DE Center for Civics Education has coordinated w/the Delaware Secretary of State to help students better understand how the electoral college works. Students will engage in a lesson about the electoral college & have a Q&A with the electors. Others can watch online.
On Tuesday, Delaware Sec. State Bullock will join DE’s 3 presidential electors at Del. State University as they cast their votes for U. S. President & VP as part of the 2024 Electoral College. Students will be there in person (or watching online) to learn about it.

Lovely to connect with social studies educators from across the country at #NCSS2024 & #CS42024 this week. Returning to Delaware with strengthened connections, new ideas, and enthusiasm to continue supporting students and educators to be inquisitive, informed, & engaged participants in civic life.
Had a great time teaching a session on Friday with Delaware municipal government officials about the intersection of local government and civics education, especially in an election year.
