Public transport is better in many airports in this country than it is in many of our cities. πŸ™„ The air tram at Detroit Airport (DTW).

I’ve been on this plane for 3+ hours now. At least the WiFi is working and there are some nice views.

Plant ID tidbit! From left to right: Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima), Butternut (Juglans cinerea), Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina). The latter two are native species that can easily be confused with the highly invasive Tree of Heaven, which is a pox on the landscape.

Clash of the seasons! Spring vs. winter. Spring may be winning in the valleys, but winter is still hanging on the mountains, at least for now. Today would have been perfect weather for a solar eclipse. We still lucked out 2 years ago today, but today would have been absolutely perfect.

Safe to say that this brand new roundabout (traffic circle, rotary, whatever you want to call it) at the intersection of US-7 and MA-43 in South Williamstown, MA has had a rough go of it lately.

When in Connecticut... No, it may not be the original one on Wooster Street in New Haven, but the tomato pie is just as good at this West Farms Mall location, if not very close to it. Been years since I've had an ah-beetz...

Still a ways to go. About 14” of snow pack left, more in the shade. Burrowing rodents have been busy and I am not looking forward to the mess once it is revealed. #vtwx

Let's just say that this isn't good. Humanity needs to do better at mitigating the release of greenhouse gases and scrubbing CO2 from the atmosphere. I am genuinely disappointed in humanity's lack of urgency to tackle this problem and we instead fight wars over fossil fuel...

None in Bennington, but I still have 18" in the shade here on the mountain to the east. Bennington is a very warm location relative to the surrounding area. There are even naturally occurring tulip trees (Liriodendron tulipfera) there.

It used to be that you paid either an EZ-Pass rate or a cash rate when we had toll booths (save for some places in NY that had special commuter plans), and it didn't matter where your EZ-Pass was issued. With AET, having an in state tag gets you a lower rate. Difference is large on NY Thruway.

Yeah, 3 inches will last longer here than 3 feet does in Fall River, MA.

8 years ago today! What an epic snowstorm this was! Doubtful that we will see anything like this again this March, but never say never…

I cored the snow pack to measure its liquid content. The result is 9.37” of water in 31.5” of snow at the sample location. At least some of this will make its way to the Deerfield and Connecticut Rivers. Hopefully, not too fast or with a lot of rain or there will be flooding. Snow can be walked on.

I have NY and MA and like to switch between them. NY is still issuing tags so I ordered a new one since they will probably convert to the stickers soon too. NJ is up next.

For example, a NY issued tag will save considerable money if traveling I-90 from the MA line to I-290 near Niagara. A MA EZ-Pass sticker affixed to the windshield cannot be as easily removed as a tag, so I can swap the MA EZ-Pass for NY EZ-Pass when traveling east/west on 90 across state lines.

Bye-bye transponders: E-ZPass switching to stickers State officials estimate the new toll tags will save the state $7.4 million annually.

I wish I saw this sooner since my MA EZ-Pass tags are old. I don't like the stickers since they're not easily transferable from one vehicle to another like a transponder, and if I travel out of MA, I can easily switch to a transponder issued by that state, saving $. www.boston.com/news/local-n...

Looks like the school vacation and weekend skiers are heading out early to try and get home before the storm. That traffic signal in Hoosick, NY often becomes a choke point on Sundays with south and west bound ski traffic heading to downstate NY, NJ, and points south.

I don't see any reason why this storm won't track inside the 40/70 benchmark and near ACK. Snow bands may even reach beyond the US/Canada border. Like a figure skater when they stretch their arms outward, an occluding storm will send its snow shield faraway from the storm center. It gonna snow!

It happens a lot, and the Bennington area often times receives less snow than Albany, NY does even though Albany is lower in elevation and further to the southwest.

The Bennington snow hole effect is alive and well today. 3.6" of snow so far here while there's virtually nothing in Bennington. A friend confirms this. Any type of storm with a veering wind profile and low level winds from the east = shadowing off of the Green Mountains.

Safe to say these Mass Pike service areas have seen better days. This is the westbound one in Framingham. McDonald's and a Gulf Express convenience store is all that's left inside and a Starbucks drive thru that charged $6.92 for an ice coffee outside.

This winter has been horrible! 🀬😑 Nothing but cold, dry and model fantasy snowstorms that all end up going out to sea or not happening at all. Just give me a mild winter like 2015-16 as opposed to teasing me all the time. It never wants to snow here anymore!
