He's not alone in thinking about it, that's for sure.

Well then, that settles it. Why didn't anyone else ever think to just demand it? π€£
It looks like Mooresville might have been in there. There and thereabouts are where my family has lived for generations. That district was nuts - from the SC border to Winston-Salem!
In the Senate it was blocked by the GOP with a filibuster.

Cong. district TX-33 showing a narrow, twisting, worm-like shape spanning areas from Fort Worth to Dallas
The district shapes look pretty tame in comparison to Texas. Look how "creative" they were with TX-33...
In general I think the fine arts (& the public) would benefit from more commissions for public works for example by requiring a % of a project's budget to fund artwork that's integrated into the architecture - anything to counter the solipsistic nature of much contemporary art.
Until I was nearly 3 years old it was illegal for white and black people to marry in several states.
So undercover police paying drug dealers as part of a sting operation can be prosecuted since it furthers the drug trade.

A dog poses on a table. He's surrounded by a tailor's measuring tape.
Every time this tailor posts a photo of their workspace, it looks like their dog is a tailor and he's showing off the garments he made.

For once I feel represented by a poll.
I agree wholeheartedly with Josh Marshall's analysis. After the demise of the Soviet Union, liberal democracies, the US in particular, passively assumed democracy was simply falling into place and failed to actively set out to mold the post-Cold War world. It's past time we did. (free link)
I had an irritatingly long exchange earlier with someone who insisted that Nancy Pelosi is almost exclusively to blame for Trump being president again. She should have impeached 151 times or something.
Good article by Krugman. Of course, the "feels" ended up dominating the discussions back then. The administration should have trumpeted its accomplishments much more loudly to counter that narrative. Sigh.

I seem to recall this well-known military commander having a different view about such mandates...
...None of these countless changes were due to any one person but are collective achievements, which in themselves were only possible with improved healthcare, education, and infrastructure in countries around the world. Those at the top of this now global market unjustly reap the rewards of others.
A key step to me is debunking the myth that massive wealth is ever earned individually. Global markets have only become possible due to a multitude of factors (harmonization of bookkeeping practices, int'l standards, trade agreements, logistics, rise of a global consumer class - to name a few)...

It's always convenient to have a single person to demonize. Good for you.
His tombstone should definitely be so engraved: Tim Apple (Cook!)
Image of a Virginia Democrats' proposed congressional map that is drawn to elect a ten-to-one Democratic majority and flip four Republican seats in 2026. The district lines are displayed over top of a basemap with major roads and cities labeled. The districts are colored by the 2024 presidential winner's margin of victory, with Kamala Harris districts in blue and Donald Trump districts in red. Darker shades represent larger margins of victory. An embedded chart shows the 2024 presidential election results and the adult population racial demographics in each district. Kamala Harris won 10 of the 11 districts, while Black voters would retain their ability to elect their preferred candidates in Districts 3 and 4, which remain safely Democratic.
Virginia votes TODAY on a referendum that would enable Democrats to redraw the congressional map for 2026 in response to new Republican gerrymanders in other states.
The map targets 4 of 5 Republicans & aims to elect a 10-1 Dem majority.

I'll grant you a "maybe" she could have changed the outcome, but it's impossible to say. The GOP and media environment are radically different from when Clinton was impeached. US voters chose to re-elect a convicted felon to the country's highest office. Pelosi isn't the main reason he's back.
This report is in a way an extension of @matthew.flux.community's demand for a better-funded liberal media ecosystem in response to all the $$$ propping up conservative voices. This is what we're up against, folks!
No, but it was reasonable to assume the strong indictments after his first term would put him in prison for many years. Mitch McConnell used that to justify his vote against removal! But then SCOTUS said nope, presidents are immune from normal legal prosecution - got to impeach!
In fact I do know that because both impeachments were so clear-cut solid and indisputable, but still nearly every Republican refused to remove. Then SCOTUS made him immune from prosecution, forcing the multiple solid cases against him to be dropped.
Which would have only resulted in 150+ additional cases not succeeding in removal. Focus on the true reasons for Trump not suffering consequences for his crimes: the GOP and SCOTUS.
Um, did you miss the multiple impeachments?
