And you know we love a well played game :)

I was next to some people playing 18CTN at Dice Tower West in 2025 and it sounded like they were having the best time. Now that I have a couple of 18xx games under my belt, I really want to try it.

Board game cover illustration that reads ARRIBADA, Robert Hovakimyan on the bottom. Illustration is in blues, sea green and oranges, depicting a top-down illustration of a sea turtle coming ashore. The fins and head are sea green, the shell is oranges and yellows. The shell itself has a pattern of a moon cycle on it.

A web page titled "Games Looking for Homes." Beneath the title are images of three games with titles and descriptions: The Resource Game (image is a grid of about a hundred resource icons), Memento Mori (image is a physical prototype—a foam core "graveyard" with cardboard tombstones and monuments sticking out of it, and Syncronyms (image is of 3 illustrated cards next to a dry erase board with the first letter of an acronym.

I added a "games looking for homes" section to my site with links to rulebooks, sell sheets, and digital prototypes.

If you're a publisher and any of these look like a good fit, please reach out!

Yeah I get this! I don't think much of the post play feedback is nearly as valuable as the play itself. Probably 95% of the value is from the play and 5% from the chat afterwards.

But I also think people who test really want to talk about it. Idk if they'd sign up for tests as often otherwise.

Another random game design thought:
Sometimes playtesters share TOO many ideas and my brain becomes chaos. GET OUT OF MY HEAD all you darn ideas!

Anyone else experience this? How do you deal with too many ideas coming at you all at once? ✂️🎲

🎲✂️ Ya'll ever have that moment when a prototype is getting pretty good and you get terrified that you're gonna screw it up somehow?

Oh I read this graph as the number of things objectively right and wrong with a game as I iterate more. And I wholeheartedly agreed with it.

Reviewers: if something doesn't seem right about a game, please take a moment to re-read the rules or even reach out to the publisher or designer for clarification before publishing a review. That extra step can save heartache and damaged reputation on both sides.

🎲✂️ Anyone think it's possible to have played so many games that it negatively affects your game design? I think I've reached the point where it's become very difficult to create something new/raw/innovative, because I have such a large bank of stuff to accidentally steal from.

Rising Sun. It was essentially my gateway game (or at least the first game I played that made me want to dig deeper into this hobby and you were probably the first designer I recognized by name!)
