Gespass said Babb’s story changed from the original narrative he provided Gamble: that her costume was obscene. When Gamble turned away from Babb, she actually was complying with his orders, Gespass explained. “There is no basis to make an arrest if she was arguably complying with his demands,” he said. “I don’t think the officer was very good at de-escalation.” City prosecutor Marcus McDowell said it wasn’t a free speech case but argued “no one has a Constitutional right to dress up as an erect penis and stand on the side of the road.”

Skydance promised the FCC “reporting [that] is fair, unbiased, and fact based.” The 60 Minutes segment on Catholics and politics this weekend failed to live up to the journalistic values that are supposed to define the new CBS News. The drama opened April 6 when Paramount’s The Free Press reported from unnamed sources that a senior Pentagon official showed a combative and arrogant attitude toward the Holy See’s ambassador during a January 22 meeting. This report was promptly refuted by the Pentagon, the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See, and the Holy See itself (“[media] narrative...completely untrue”). Next Democratic operative David Axelrod met with Pope Leo on April 9. CBS News’ headline gushed: “Pope Leo XIV meets with former Obama adviser David Axelrod. Could he meet with former president soon?” The third act played out after the Masters Tournament, where 60 Minutes most benefits from carry-over viewership. CBS leveraged that large audience with a 13-minute segment with Norah O’Donnell featuring three cardinals criticizing the president’s policies on Iran and immigration. O’Donnell, of course, was notorious for her bias moderating the 2024 VP debate. The one-sided report did not include any viewpoints other than the three cardinals and a fourth priest also favorable to immigration. O’Donnell could have interviewed Cardinal Timothy Dolan or Bishop Robert Barron, both of whom serve on the President’s religious liberty commission, or a Catholic scholar of just war theory like papal biographer George Weigel or Professor J. Budziszewski. She didn't. This report was neither fair nor unbiased. It was a one-sided hit piece delivered on a high ratings show at the same time as other efforts to push Catholic voters in a particular political direction. We are copying FCC Chairman Brendan Carr on this letter because Paramount didn’t just make these promises to viewers—it made them to a federal regulatory agency to secure approval of the transaction.
dear mr. fcc chairman sir, the television did not say the right things about the pope and the government should do something

Trump “Truth”: No one can believe that Fake News CNN put out a knowingly false and dangerous statement pretending it came from the upper levels of the Iranian Government. It didn't! It was totally made up and posted, as a headline, for purpose of, perhaps, inflaming a very delicate situation. It was a new, trouble making site from Nigeria, and CNN just got caught cheating - A very dangerous thing to do!
Not a single assertion here is true.
Fox News: "Iran, allegedly claiming victory against the United States in a statement published by state media ..."
Guess who else (accurately!) reported this
Trump "Truth": The alleged Statement put out by CNN World News is a FRAUD, as CNN well knows. The false Statement was linked to a Fake News site (from Nigeria) and, of course, immediately picked up by CNN, and blared out as a “legitimate” headline. The Official Statement by Iran was just released, and posted on TRUTH, below. Authorities are looking to determine whether or not a crime was committed on the issuance of the Fake CNN World Statement, or was it a sick rogue player? CNN is being ordered to immediately withdraw this Statement with full apologies for their, as usual, terrible “reporting.” Results of the investigation will be announced in the near future. President DONALD J. TRUMP
White House Rapid Response account: "ATTENTION @cnni : As @POTUS just said, Iran’s official statement is linked in his TRUTH below AND posted by the Iranian foreign minister. This alleged statement by “Iran” is a FRAUD! Correct immediately!" [Photo of CNN story citing "a statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council report by Iranian state media."
Brendan Carr tweet: More outrageous conduct from CNN. Fake news is bad enough for the country, but pushing out a hoax headline in such a sensitive national security moment as this requires accountability. Iran put out an official statement that simply cannot be squared with the one CNN's false headline attributes to them. Time for change at CNN.
Iran's PressTV Twitter account: Supreme national security council: Iran achieved historic victory by forcing criminal US to accept its 10-point plan.
The President, White House, and FCC's Brendan Carr are calling for action -- and implying a criminal investigation -- against CNN for... accurately reporting what Iran's state media shared as a statement from Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
Iranian state media: "More details about the ceasefire will be announced by [Iran] in the coming minutes"
Per @lookner.bsky.social, Iran also says it is agreeing to a two-week ceasefire.
Did Iran agree to open the strait because that’s literally the core point of contention and this does not say that it did
I'm glad we are not attempting to end a civilization tonight, but this is an agreement with Pakistan. Is there any indication Iran had accepted that proposal?
yeah man i'll circle back to you on that agenda item from yesterday's all hands in just a sec. our pedophile king just threatened to destroy a whole civilization
"A whole civilization will die tonight," but not the one we're bombing.

It was just 24 days between when Zuck went on Rogan and talked about how "never again" would he suppress info based on gov't demands (misrepresenting those demands) and when he texted top gov't employee Elon Musk to say "we're all set up to take down info you want removed."
I wrote about it here.
If you were to bother to read my books, to behave as educated persons would, you would learn that they are not sexy, and do not argue in favor of wildness of any kind. They beg that people be kinder and more responsible than they often are. It is true that some of the characters speak coarsely. That is because people speak coarsely in real life. Especially soldiers and hardworking men speak coarsely, and even our most sheltered children know that. And we all know, too, th at those words really don't damage children much. They didn't damage us when we were young. It was evil deeds and lying that hurt us. After I have said all this, I am sure you are still ready to respond, in effect, ''Yes, yes - but it still remains our right and our responsibility to decide what books our children are going to be made to read in our community.'' This is surely so. But it is also true that if you exercise that right and fulfill that responsibility in an ignorant, harsh, un-American manner, then people are entitled to call you bad citizens and fools. Even your own children are entitled to call you that. I read in the newspaper that your community is mystified by the outcry [...] about what you have done. [...] Perhaps you will learn from that that books are sacred to free men for very good reasons, and that wars have been fought against nations which hate books and burn them. If you are an American, you must allow all ideas to circulate freely in your community, not merely your own. If you and your board are now determined to show that you in fact have wisdom and maturity when you exercise your powers over the education of your young, then you should acknowledge that it was a rotten lesson you taught young people in a free society when you denounced and then burned books - books you hadn't even read. You should also resolve to expose your children to all sorts of opinions and information, in order that they will be better equipped to make decisions and to survive.
Every time a school responds this way -- teaching youth that the way to deal with speech they might find offensive is not to respond to it, but to suppress it -- I remember Kurt Vonnegut's letter to a school that burned his books. It's a "rotten lesson." www.nytimes.com/1982/02/07/o...

Cartoon depicting a "history" factory, with the quote: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" from George Santayana. A student thinks: "Why does this look familiar?" while thinking about the Palmer Raids and Japanese-American Incarcerations, and the cogs of "Bureaucracy" and "Loopholes" stand next to an "ICE" conveyor belt with "Unidentified Agents," "Detentions Without Charge," "Militarized PResence," and "Limited Transparency" on the assembly line. Beneath the conveyor belt, spilled water from a pipe, labeled: "the cracks are showing", and a graph showing "public trust" in the red.
Officials at an Omaha-area high school ordered the student newspaper to remove this editorial cartoon criticizing ICE, then demanded prior review of articles about their censorship. Via @splc.org, which is advocating for the students: splc.org/2026/03/nebr...
Just to be very clear: The Trump DOJ is stealing $1.2 million of your money to gift one of Trump’s cronies, who pled guilty to the crimes he was charged with, and whose suit against the government had already been tossed by a judge.

In the One54 Africa podcast clip, Jonasi claims that the chant, “Nants’ingonyama bagithi Baba” translates to “Look, there’s a lion. Oh my god.” The complaint alleges that Jonasi "presented this as authoritative fact, not comedy," and that in doing so he "mocked the chant’s cultural significance with exaggerated imitations."

This seems to present a Sherrill v. Knight problem, in which the DC Cir held, re White Press passes, that the government must publish or otherwise make publicly known the actual standard employed in determining whether an otherwise eligible journalist will obtain a White House press pass."
SOON: “we won the war! all the other countries in NATO and Japan and Australia and South Korea lost”
Trump "Truth": The United States has been informed by most of our NATO “Allies” that they don’t want to get involved with our Military Operation against the Terrorist Regime of Iran, in the Middle East, this, despite the fact that almost every Country strongly agreed with what we are doing, and that Iran cannot, in any way, shape, or form, be allowed to have a Nuclear Weapon. I am not surprised by their action, however, because I always considered NATO, where we spend Hundreds of Billions of Dollars per year protecting these same Countries, to be a one way street — We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need. Fortunately, we have decimated Iran’s Military — Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti-Aircraft and Radar is gone and perhaps, most importantly, their Leaders, at virtually every level, are gone, never to threaten us, our Middle Eastern Allies, or the World, again! Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer “need,” or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID! Likewise, Japan, Australia, or South Korea. In fact, speaking as President of the United States of America, by far the Most Powerful Country Anywhere in the World, WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP
