Realized it’s been like two years since my last release, so another downtempo thing with tom fills is needed

Guess I'm making whatever the fuck downtempo synthwave is called again.

I adore Hudson Hawk. The whole Candy Bar Crew are highlights, especially Almond Joy and Butterfinger. James Coburn is a delight as well.

Flitting through my spam filter, which receives dozens of random solicitations from fake authors weekly to talk shop and get featured in exchange for a nominal fee. I usually junk these, but I had a hearty chuckle at this one. I doubt Murakami would cold email some random Southerner out of the blue.

I know the feeling, I occasionally catch myself perusing Dave Brubeck and Glenn Miller recordings on Discogs

That's what I'm telling my wife for why I need a vintage tube-driven turntable. I gotta listen to Miles Davis in style, and that style is 60s thrift store finds.

I agree tho, noodly lo-fi music is the best. Been loving just combing through the 1080 to find whatever for Ridge Racer vibes.

I have no excuses of my own for that. I'm sure I'll find one, at some point. My only real score was finding a mint Sanyo cassette dubber on the cheap, but I legit just make noodly lo-fi music at this point that I haven't published in a year.

Low-key jealous, I've been on the hunt for a Sony or Akai stereo deck for the last year or so, and the prices are just a little too high for what I wanna spend. Even the grungy, nasty ones are going for a pretty penny.

Slowly but surely, I've been chipping away at a novel that I'm mostly proud of so far. Gotta fix continuity errors and shit, and big ups to @frogknightmusic.bsky.social for providing some delightful inspo music while I try to evoke the pastoral vibes.

CRUSH THE WORLD

I can just about guarantee that any art that has a passionate fanbase of a few hundred people is superior in most every way to any piece of art that is popular and successful but not particularly beloved (except by undiscerning "consumers")

I’m honestly shocked they’re revisiting Onimusha. Still no word on Darkstalkers, Tech Romancer, and Breath of Fire, sadly

I've never been on the SWE side of things, but FOSS and Linux are the foundation of modern computing. Gotta hope those bonus checks he's getting pushed his way are worth this extreme degree of hyperbole.

Man, looking for extra work in this market is a bloodbath. If you or anyone you know is in the market for a contributing writer, don't hesitate to give me a look. I have flexible rates, an absurdly efficient work ethic, and I don't use LLMs to collate research or generate text. Somebody pay me, pls

Friendly reminder that I offer up affordable mastering services for all sorts of audio. Audiobook? Yes. Breakcore? Yes. And so forth. Trying to make up for some shortfalls going into March, and the more folks I can book, the better.

Shame this never got finished, seems like Fyodor was on one when he was drafting it.

If you're on the hunt for audio that sounds nice without having to pay a princely sum to get your stuff mixed or mastered, please hit me up. Currently trying to make up for a gap in my clients from my freelancing writing gig, and you're patronage is always appreciated.

Additionally, I know begging is tacky, but I am a content strategist with five years of experience writing, editing, and so forth. If you know someone or you're after someone who needs real, human content for an affordable price, lemme know.

Woke up this morning to find out I am taking a substantial paycut. As such, if you are in need of mixing and mastering for affordable rates, please contact me. Currently, I'm like $1800 a month short of where I should be just to keep my kids fed and the lights on.
