The problem is rampant and aggressive landlordsim, and a devolved Stormont that does nothing to build social housing or protect renters. Immigration, new communities and refugees were never the problem.

Fatima can now have the time and space she needs to heal from her recent surgery in her own home.

No one should be faced with the dehumanising conditions that Fatima endured.

We are organising so that no one else will have to!

Now, thanks to her support network and her fellow union members in CATU - Fatima has a Safe, Secure Home!

She was devastated to learn she would not be allowed any visitors in a time where her friends and social support network are a lifeline. This new hostel offer was so unsuitable that our member was left with no choice but to sleep on a friend’s sofa.

On 4th February 2025, the Housing Executive evicted our member from the B&B in Crumlin and offered her a new placement in a hostel in Belfast.

Our member went to the hostel to be greeted with a broken shower, shared kitchen, £25 weekly service charge, respiratory hazards and accessibility issues.

We won! 💚✊

You might remember Fatima's case from a few months ago...

Well, after months of organising and pressure, our member Fatima has finally been provided with a Single Let by the Housing Executive.

What is the impact of years of Local Housing Allowance rates being frozen? According to the Department for Communities there is ‘no impact’.

But with private rents across NI rising every month, our latest Policy Watch looks at how true this statement can be 👇

Every empty building and derelict home is an insult to people made homeless by a cruel system that puts private profits above the public good.

March with us this Saturday, join CATU Belfast, and let's build a Belfast where everyone has a Safe, Secure Home.

We are fighting for Safe, Secure Homes for All right across our city. We do not accept this manufactured Housing Crisis. We know the solutions are out there - the politicians and their landlord mates simply refuse to carry them out!

It is unconscionable that the Housing Executive is evicting families into homelessness in the middle of a housing crisis. It is unforgivable that our so-called representatives refuse to tackle landlordism while our communities face ever increasing rents and the constant threat of eviction!

What a weekend!

We had a fantastic community day yesterday in Norglen Parade with a huge amount of support from neighbours and CATU members. We will not accept Housing Executive evictions in our communities.

Their mouthpieces are peddling division and hatred to divide us while they raise our rents and refuse to build social housing.

Now, as in the generations before us, we must stand together to end landlordism and guarantee Safe, Secure Homes for All.

Hopefully we will see you there!

we have the power to stand up to the rotten system that oppresses us.

Today, we are enduring a housing crisis being (mis)managed by landlord politicians in every corner of these islands.

Ashton's politics were rooted in class struggle and driven by solidarity for all those suffering at the hands of a state intent on maximising profits and crushing dissent. This film shows us that by extending the hand of friendship, and building real networks of solidarity,
