n64 says "look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power" to nintendo switch while a data center the size of a city barely cranks out 30 seconds of "gameplay" and than begs for 400$ to continue.

Isn't this literally the plot of a futurama episode?

It seems to be holding up fairly well without resorting to a counter grief effort. so probably unnecessary. although focusing on a simple counter grief would free up some people to expand art elsewhere. and it would be funny to make the griefing effort backfire.

The funny thing about this is that lock and key mechanics are like one of the core pillars of game design.
Pro tip if you want to get really technical about it, even moving the plot forward is treated as a key in most videogames under the hood.

unless someone found a way to make the broken junk we have right now profitable.
So they shove it down the average person's throat, insist that it is good and cross their fingers that enough rubes buy their bullshit that they can afford to keep beating their head against this wall.

AI isn't new technology, we've been investing tons of money into it for decades, the reason it's getting big now isn't because it just started getting good enough to do something useful, but because we couldn't afford to keep pretending we were eventually going to get it working

There are people out there who will try to tell you that these are bugs, design flaws that will be polished out in the next few patches. that it will get better eventually. I've been following the tech for 15 years now, and I have yet to see it happen.

I've been working on my paper mario inspired deckbuilder and I have transitions into and out of combat fully implemented, as well as a system to store both the combat and overworld environment simultaneously loaded but while ensuring only one runs at a time. #gamedev #godot. #indiedev

I'm really bad at the whole sharing progress thing, and its not a social anxiety thing, or a fear of being judged thing, it's a #gamedev is too much fun thing.
I keep planning out a devlog or a post on bluesky, I get out the project to record or screenshot, and suddenly 15 new features are done.

the main character is gonna have glasses so we gotta be able to use an effect like this

I definitely was not testing the transition-into-combat shader, and realized I could use it to make an earthbound background, not at all what happened

since we got a hybrid card game rpg we gotta have a card game themed #earthbound style background.

I am personally of the opinion that if they learn from their mistakes they should be welcomed to the side of woke, but also what did they vote for if not this?

This is why I love the Ghibli apocalypse troupe. the apocalypse already happened and we already rebuilt. No matter how bad things got we made it through them. and that message is so obvious we don't even need to say it explicitly, all done through environmental storytelling.

An Existential hope.

Man I can't imagine what it would be like to be someone who spent their whole life studying tech to help make the world a better place only for the industry to be actively sabotaging the world by the time they were an adult.

Can't imagine it cause I am that person.

I have work i would do for free, but under capitalism my continued existence costs money. You'd be paying me to make that problem go away so i can actually focus on that work.

I haven't used it for anything meaningful, but i feel like I'm obligated to keep my hatred informed, and grounded in reality, i check in on it occasionally to make sure it still sucks ass.

I cannot get over the fact that they read an ethics report that said "hey there are some major ethical concerns about this tech we ought to address" and the higher ups responded "ooh a marketing strategy"

They are literally the kind of evil that does things because you tell them it's evil.

I read that first sentence in both of your voices and then it switched to just blue in the second.

Being comfortable with yourself in public in spite of the fact that you're not a hypermisogynist should honestly be enough.
Insecurity is a self inflicted problem and you can be the evidence of that by simply existing.

Scope expands to fill the time alotted. Setting a deadline helps even if you don't make it.
