Sorry @maddow.bsky.social , love you and I hate Trump’s warehousing of people, but comparing assessed value with market price is almost always apples and oranges. Varies by jurisdiction, but assessed values are often way below market value. It’s lazy reporting to compare without context.

Trump’s Phony “Karma Defense” The claims that he was a victim of inappropriate “lawfare” are wildly inflated, and don’t justify his government’s lawsuits against his critics.

Case Closed on Epstein? Not So Fast Take a closer look at what the Justice Department memo says—and doesn’t say—about the sexual predator’s “client list.”

NEW: A lot of media outlets reported that the DOJ memo about Epstein said there is no "client list." But that's NOT what the memo actually says, if you read it carefully. Check this out:

SCOTUS to Trump: Deport, Deport, Ignore the Courts Right-wing justices give the president a green light for the deportation programs lower courts have found unlawful.

The Supreme Court has given the Trump administration the go-ahead to continue acting with blatant disregard for the limits of its statutory authority and for constitutional protections.

We shouldn’t accept how even friendly media reports on Kilmar Abrego Garcia. He’s not being held “by” El Salvador, he’s being held “by” the US and warehoused “in” El Salvador. El Salvador hasn’t charged him with anything. And he hasn’t been “deported,” he’s been disappeared and imprisoned.

This is surely the most blunt, depressing take imaginable on what is happening to our country. But it is not only imaginable, it is also most likely accurate. It’s not time to panic, but it is time to face up to the truth.

Right @tribelaw.bsky.social . I don’t interpret Roberts’s statement as push-back to Trump. I think he sent a thinly coded message: “Donald, you don’t need to risk any political capital on the impeachment gimmick. We’ve got your back. Just wait until it gets to SCOTUS and we’ll take care of you.”

One way to read Trump's statement: he believes Biden is close to negotiating a hostage release and wants to take credit for it. If Biden succeeds, Trump will say that it wouldn't have happened without his threat. Pure Trumpism at its worst.

With Gaetz off the AG board the question is: Is there blood in the water, or has the beast been fed? Does tanking Gaetz embolden the GOP fence-sitters to resist other unqualified nominees, or do they declare victory and roll over on everybody else?
