Great work here. 👇
OMG
Artemis II is finally home! What an amazing, groundbreaking and inspiring journey! 🥹
Grateful to every scientist, engineer, technician, and the extraordinary crew who made this mission possible. We can’t wait to see all of the amazing science that come from this mission! 🚀❤️
Interesting, useful, and clear thinking from Dr. Frith.
This obituary for James Coyne contained too much bullshit for me. It labors to construct a fictional “iconoclast“ from what was mere harassment and defamation. That is not a service to the field. psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?d...
A detailed digital composite image based on the 1947 historical photograph of geneticist Barbara McClintock. McClintock, with her characteristic short hair and round glasses, is seated at a microscope, using tweezers in a Petri dish. While based on the original photo distributed for her AAUW award, this image presents a significantly expanded and fictionalized laboratory environment. The simple wooden workbench is now densely populated with a vast, colorized collection of complex glassware, numerous amber-colored reagent bottles, intricate distillation columns, and botanical specimens relevant to maize cytogenetics, creating a rich, illustrative narrative of her "jumping gene" research context that was not present in the original photo. The expanded background shows complex vintage laboratory cabinetry. This image explicitly states it is a composite: a digital recreation where Seriously Scientific has taken the historical figure and placed them into an augmented, complex fictionalized environment. Based on original source from Smithsonian Institution Archives. Digital composite by Seriously Scientific.
Remembering Barbara McClintock on International Women's Day!
She discovered that genes aren't static, they can actually "jump" around on a chromosome.
Her discovery of transposons ("jumping genes") fundamentally changed how we understand evolution and the complexity of DNA! 🧬🌽

A story about what happens when a community decides that feeling right is more important than being correct—and how “ethics“ can become the approved vocabulary for enforcing that preference.

Happy birthday to one of my favourite haters, Charles Darwin
"It is totally inappropriate and against the separations of powers for the DOJ to surveil us as we search the Epstein files. (US Attorney General) Bondi showed up today with a burn book that held a printed search history of exactly what emails I searched." - Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA).
Today we’re launching Open Climate Risk, a fully open option for U.S. building-level climate risk data. It’s unique because it allows you to see not only risk scores, starting with wildfire, but also the complete underlying dataset, methods, and codebase. carbonplan.org/research/cli...
Please, *please* spend a lot of time doing a full public Republican investigation of a triumphant performance by the most charismatic human being on earth.
I've shared this quote before but I'll share it again, as it's one I've been thinking about a lot as I've watched how our oligarchs have been behaving over the past few months.
In which Jeffrey Epstein, who laundered money for the Russians, explains how Donald Trump was doing exactly the same thing, and how this accounts for most of his wealth.
If you're a Post journalist who got laid off today: 1. [pats bench] come sit by us, is it time to go get that book deal?; and 2. even if not, I'd be happy to comp you a free year's subscription to "How to Glow in the Dark" if you reach out this week. neonliterary.substack.com?utm_campaign...
One more comment on the Post debacle: this hurts journalism broadly. Good journalists will go do something else. The rest will be fighting for fewer jobs and everyone will earn less. Fewer people will take up the career. The damage done is to the ecosystem, as well as the paper.
34,000 signing up for this work AFTER seeing their fellow citizens gunned down by federal thugs in cold blood? I'm chugging whatever the opposite of doomerism is
This administration is cooked. Literally no one is scared of them.
Remember the Bundy insanity during the Obama years? Armed guys occupied a federal office and one of their buddies took position with a sniper rifle aimed at federal agents?
Exactly how many of those guys were shot and killed?
Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre: every time I meet with Trump he immediately makes clear how angry he is that he didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize and demands that Norway give it to him immediately. I explain that the Nobel Committee, not the government of Norway, awards this prize.
A video of ICE agents conducting door-to-door searches today in Minneapolis
The homeowner requests a warrant repeatedly, is told they don't require one, then is told they're getting it, then the agents storm in anyway
They also point a taser at her to try and disrupt filming
They are desperate to frame a 37-year-old mother in a Honda Pilot as a well-trained “domestic terrorist.”

According to witnesses, this is the masked ICE agent who shot the driver in Minneapolis. He shot from the side into the vehicle.
This is him walking away from the crashed vehicle.
ICE shot and killed a woman on camera today. We all saw the video.
The Trump administration is lying.
I’m running for Congress in NY-12, my home.
We have a demented, criminal president running the country like a mob operation—government by the boss, for the boss.
We need Democratic fighters who will defend the rule of law and deliver government by the people. Join us.
