I rode the Broadway Bus! The privately operated local bus line in Bayonne, NJ is shutting down this month, likely to be replaced with an NJ Transit route. Cash only, no schedule…it can use an upgrade.

Sure enough, most riders got off at UConn. Only a handful of us left in board.

Peter Pan bus tracker showing 13-16 minute late departures through Hartford and Manchester

Peter Pan bus tracker showing 13-16 minute late departures through Hartford and Manchester

In terms of timekeeping, we didn’t get off to a great start. The bus showed up about 10 minutes late and has been running about 15 down. Leaving Manchester we have about 10 riders, most of whom appear to be UConn students. I noticed some swiping U-Pass cards, CT’s free transit program for students.

Peter Pan coach named Great Big Little Panther

The digital display is trying to show PROVIDENCE and there are paper signs in the windshield for the 913 and 918. Like all Peter Pan coaches, this one has a name from the Peter Pan stories.

The PPB appears on the schedules for the 913 Buckland-Storrs Express and the 918 Willimantic - Coventry Express, sharing some stops with each of them but charting its own course across eastern CT.

Since I’m going to Providence, I bought my ticket from Peter Pan for $33. But most riders are using the CTT farebox installed in the first row. Express zone fares range from $3.20 to $6, not bad for a trip halfway across the state!

Excited to ride a unique Connecticut bus route today, the PPB! It’s operated by Peter Pan as a Hartford - Providence schedule but acts like a CTtransit express route within CT.

Got to try out the NextGen Acela this weekend with @jameslllamas.bsky.social ! Overall, these trains are a step forward into modernity. The interiors, while not perfect, elevate the travel experience with an ambiance that is both futuristic and nostalgic. I really enjoyed my ride!

They probably just don’t want outdated barcodes out there. On an airline, if you change your seat but use the barcode from an old email, it squawks at you and they pull you aside to print a new boarding pass. Avoidable if you use the app which always has the current version.

Probably assuming the same fleet expansion, which…doesn’t seem necessary.

Why would they need more rolling stock to add weekends?

There’s nothing better than going to a brewery w/out worrying about who’s driving after.

So in honor of summer beer season—and CT’s badass craft brew scene—here are my favorite MetroNorth-accessible breweries.

Rankings based on beer quality, 🚉🚂 access, and vibes.🧵/

^This is the answer. Why offer discounts that are likely to be used on the most capacity-constrained trains? Runs contrary to the dynamic pricing goal of spreading demand.

Also when does the express arrive? They’ve hidden a 15 minute Brockton layover on the local which could also mislead riders about arrival time.

8 months ago 0 0 1 0

They should put local and express on the same schedule - this is confusing. Do they use the same stops? Which one is leaving next? Which arrives first?
