Hospital Security Searches Among Patients With Substance-Related Encounters This cohort study evaluates the clinical context and outcomes of room searches among patients with substance-related hospital encounters.

Alumnus Ashish Thakrar and colleagues asked, "what happens when hospitals search patients w/substance use disorders?" Most searches found no illicit substances & were linked to higher odds of patients leaving AMA, raising questions about stigma and trust in care.
