I paused buying the series once Sweet Shop was announced. I'll be resuming when it's up... I can read Volume 15! :D
I really appreciate how sensory Witch Hat Atelier is. There is a conscious effort to evoke tactile qualities, and it makes the magic that much more magical. God, Bug Films saw the manga and really took seriously the task of making something that lived up to Shirahama’s genius.
Those randos suck. Also musicals rule.
I showed my niece (8) Witch Hat Atelier today. She’s never read manga before, but I told her it reads right to left and that was all she needed. Just switched reading direction like it was nothing. I was in awe.
Even if you aren't inclined to color in it, this is a BEAUTIFUL book and its a treat to pore over David's inks.

No one could be a more perfect voice for Mogget (Yrael).

Artists! Show what built your style!
I've read a bunch of poorly scanslated french comics whose art inspired me more than anything else. For all their faults, I still love them so much. I hope you see these reflected in my art
Comics are such a great literacy aid. I’ve got all my nieces started on comics, and they all started reading voraciously. It makes me so happy to see them absolutely love their books. They treat them like treasures.
I’ve been buying each one in hardcover as they come out, waiting till both were old enough to read them. The youngest only started reading 2 months ago (the school year begins late Jan / early Feb here) and she’s taken to it like a duck to water.
