The Accidental Discovery That Changed How I Think About Social Apps From the start of building, I thought of Cackles as a voice-first social app. People hop into rooms. They talk. They hang out. Simple.

People weren’t “checking” Cackles. They were living inside it. It was background companionship. A digital third place. A room that stayed open while life happened around it.

Not “mostly audio.”

Not “audio-first.”

Audio-dominant to the point of being a behavioral law.

On the surface, it looked like a normal activity log. Daily minutes. Audio. Video. Nothing flashy. But when I actually studied how people were spending time, something much more interesting appeared.

Over 99% of all human time on Cackles was audio.

Then I pulled December’s usage data.

And it quietly rewired my brain.

The Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of Bankruptcy The satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.

Hi everyone.

The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars.

We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website.

We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off.

I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.
